Has anyone got any tips for using/applying powders (type of brush) and washes to finished models that have been painted by brush in acrylic paint

When is the best time to apply and how to protect the application from handling etc ?

Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated as always

Thank you for your time

Cheers Jay

You should finish the vehicle, factory fresh and apply the appropriate varnish.

Powders usually work with white spirit so will not disturb your acrylic paintwork. There are many techniques for applying powders:

Mixing with white spirit to make a wash.

Making a mix of powder, sand, plaster and water to make a muddy concoction.

Wetting an area with white spirit and dry-flicking powder to make mud spatters.

Once you're happy, seal with a spray of matt coat

This is an old ESCI Opel Blitz that I painted with Humbrol enamel, way back in the late 70's. How it has survived all that long, including a move over half way across the continent, I'll never know.

I used some Tamiya pastels ( Sand ) to dirty it up a bit.
