Cars not moving

Just bought the joker Batman micro scalextric set for my son.

on the track it initially worked and now the cars make a horrible squealing noise but do not move. If I lift up the back wheels the front connection is definitely there. This has happened to both cars. I have looked in the back wheels and gear and cannot see any blockages.

any ideas? I have a video but it doesn’t let me post that

I think the system only support posting links to videos. Do you have the possibility of uploading the video to something like youtube and then posting the link here?

Screaching usually means the rear axles has bumped out of its mounts. It my look like the gear from the motor (pinion) is touching the rear axle but that might not be the case.

Another possibility is that the crown gear (the gear on the rear axle) has stripped teeth and therefore the motor turns but the car does not move. take the body off the car and slowly turn the rear axle to inspect if any teeth are missing. There may also be teeth missing on the motor. If you can, use your finger to slowly turn the motor and inspect that as well.
