Has anyone got the app to run on the PC

Recommended Posts

The app runs fine on my phone. But I don't want to use my phone for this.

The battery drains too quick. And this is just not the way to go.

And I don't want to buy a tablet just for this. In case it doesn't work.

I run Linux. Have a Windows 8.1 machine for my old windows games.

I am using a newly (Aug 2022), purchased bluetooth 4.0 dongle.

I have tried the Linux android emulator 'Anbox'. Linux will pick up the ARC air.

But the app won't. Which is running on Anbox.

I installed the Bliss androidx86 OS. Installed on a USB HD.

Bliss OS will not pick up ARC air. Hense, the app won't also of course.

All of these android emulators, and android for PC OS's, are very experimental when it comes to Bluetooth. Which their developers openly admit.

So it is not a big shock or surprise to me that I am having issues.

I have tried Magic ARC. But I just get a blank white screen in all cases.

Edit: I forgot to mention.

I do really need the app.

It is just to sensitive to run without it.

With the default linear responce and power.

I could get use to it.

But when the young relatives come round.

Well, you all know the story grinning

There is a an enthusiast built APP call Magic ARC that works on a PC. You have to use the PC version and not the mobile version. I think it is available on the Microsoft store.

The native app was never designed to work on a PC.

I have never noticed any battery drain using any of the devices that I have.

When I did an event several years ago I just plugged the tablet in to be sure it would run fine.

The APP will work fin any most tablets. An older iPad is likely your best bet. Android devices for whatever reason seem to be trickier.

Check the Windows App store. The app is call Magic Arc App. It's not the same app as the one Scalextric has put out. Thought it is in many ways a great app on it's own. I prefer using it to using the Scalextric Arc App because I can get a full screen display which is much easier to look at when racing or sharing the information with others.

there are many capabilities in the app. I like it so much I sent the guy who wrote it some funds to encourage him to keep it updated and available. I also encourage anyone who uses the Magic Arc App to at least leave a review on the Microsoft App store so this app can get more noticed.

Thanks folks,

The main issue is, that I have been using Linux OS for about the last 7 years.

Win 8.1 won't let me download Magic ARC app from the MS store.

I have just DL'd the Windows 11 iso file.

Thinking all would be simple, just like a Linux iso install.

But "NO !". For 1. The iso is bigger than a DVD.

The options to make a bootable USB stick. So that one can install Windows 11 on a blank, ( well me, an SSD usb drive) are very complex.

Even for one such as me. Who has been into computers for around 30 years.

I would say that it has been made as difficult as it can possibly be.

I am sure no one will be wondering why. imp

If you already have Win10. My assumption is that it is all as Simple as Simon.

So please hold the line people.

As I will be back. As I have to be back.

Because fun racing is next to impossible without the app.

As the cars go like rockets. The cars go like a young hoon trying to impress at how good they can do fish tails.

Not having much luck with the android OS's for the PC either.

Mainly due to Bluetooth issues. But they are cool. Getting google play apps on the PC. The one's that will actually work of course.
