Canopy edges

Recommended Posts

I usually run the end of a wooden toothpick along the edges of the mask to ensure the edges are pressed down tight so as to avoid bleeding.

When it happened to me I had scraped the offending paint off very, very carefully with a scalpel. You have to be careful not to scratch the canopy itself. In my case though it was a very tiny bleed.

Whatever you do try it out first on an old canopy - or at least on a bit of clear plastic ...don't try it on your model.

If it's acrylic paint careful use of a cocktail stick might do the trick

This works with enamel as well, paint adhesion to transparent plastic is usually not as good as opaque. If the paint is a little stubborn moisten the end of the stick with a tiny amount of thinner. Polish up after with a swab.

To avoid bleed, as well as burnishing you can also apply a small amount of clear varnish to seal the edges.
