R5-R6 radius curves.

It's a must for us who build big tracks, and like to make historical correct tracks. Then you opend a hole new world for us track builders, no homemade stuff, just pure Scalextric all around. Whats the problem????

I am sure this has been asked before.

The problem is money.

Developing and putting track into production is 6 or maybe even 7 figures of your favorite currency.

Items, be it cars, track or anything else only go into production if the costs can be recuperated.

Whatever Hornby produces it has meet the largest possible demand out there.

The 1-2% making club level tracks that are "accurate" do not figure into that in today's world.

One small point: a accurate 1/32 scale version of Goodwood would have to be 20 meters in diameter...

I would LOVE to see that but the number of places with that space are limited.

An R6 "curve" would practically be straight. Take a straight, cut a 2mm wedge out of the middle and that basically would be an R6.

R5 I can kind of see as I have made layouts where the ends did not meet up and I had the force the track together under much strain.

An R4 is already so mildly curved you can always take them full speed.

There is a guy in Germany that makes R5s and R6s. I don't know how many he sells.

So there simply is not a large enough market for it to make it worth Hornby's while...

Unless you are a millionaire and you want to just give them the money... I am sure they would take it!

My demands from Scalextric comming, my say has played in, now Mario and Ronnie comming with Lotus 79 twinpack. But i have my fight with the radius R5 and R6. Regards from Sweden.
