HM7040 Legacy Dongle - Lenz Compact digital plus

Recommended Posts

The very old basic DCC system Lenz Digital plus, generally works with the HM7040 Dongle. Atlas also used to sell a similar system under license from Lenz called Atlas Commander I think.

The running of multiple trains worked very well Alternating from the Hornby app then back to the Lenz controller, but when I tried to add F0 function manually to operate a light it very rarely worked for some reason?

So if you have a Lenz DCC system generally what does the HM7040 Legacy Dongle offer you?

The Ability to operate your dcc equipped locomotives using the Free Hornby HM7000 app, allowing you to list all of your locomotives with pictures and operating multiple locomotives (1 at a time directly). So you have the best of both worlds either operate with Lenz Control knobs or instantly switch over to Slider controls on the Hornby app. If you want to you can also run a Hornby Bluetooth equipped locomotive but you don't have to.

For some reason the Function facility works today! Not sure why.  Perhaps related to alternating between elite or select option, although works with both. Or refreshing HM7040.

Those option buttons are to cater for the way each controller handles functions, so if using with an alien controller, try both until you find the one best suited to it.

Elite can have its buttons set on the fly to toggle (on-off) or momentary (press and hold). Select only has toggle capability and each function has to be selected on, then separately off again.

Thanks for that, still all working well.
