Trainmadtommo
Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me what colour are the ‘Wessex’ Southern Rail coaches? All my SR coaches are dark green and I know Hornby do SR green and malachite green and one of these is often referred to as ‘olive green’. Now, because I’ve only got the one colour, I don’t which is which.
LTSR_NSE
@Trainmadtommo - if you are referring to R2599 ‘The Royal Wessex’ those coaches are in BR SR green. That is actually a different green again to both SR Olive & SR Malachite. SR Olive is the darkest of the 3 & SR Malachite the lightest. BR SR is much closer to Malachite but slightly darker. Trainmadtommo
Hi LTSR_NSE Thank you so much for reply to my question. It has really helped me to understand the question that’s been bugging me for quite a while. Now I know what to look for when extending my three SR rakes of coaches. Thanks again T
Bulleidboy
Also bear in mind, should you purchase a Bachmann coach in BR SR Green, it is not, unfortunately, the same as the Hornby BR SR Green.
atom3624
Hi BB, Easy response is that they weren't all painted the same day. Presumably this paint was brushed, perhaps sprayed or dipped, but nevertheless, on different weeks the mix could well be slightly different, even before the effects of the UV / sunshine, and our interminable rain! It all adds a little character and a bit of 'realistic variation'. Al.
