Graskie
Yes, I realised Ferret was talking about pre-nationalisation locos but I thought it would be interesting to see what had happened to them in BR times. You've just reminded me, LC, mentioning that publication. Could it have been the one I used to take because, among other things, it showed the latest shed allocation changes and, indeed, which steam locos had been recently scrapped in the late 50's/early 60's? Unfortunately I don't seem to have any copies left of whatever it was.
Postman Prat
Hi Graskie That sounds like Trains Illustrated
LCDR
'The Railway Observer' was normally only available to RCTS members, however 'Trains Illustrated' was available widely from newsagents, published by Ian Allan. It became 'Modern Railways' in 1962. The RO had only a few pictures, but TI was profusely illustrated.
Graskie
Yes, thanks, PP. That rings a bell, but I would have stopped taking it just before 1962, LC.
2e0dtoeric
You stopped taking it, Grassie - did you get caught? :-)
