rugbyboys
Hi, I recieved my TTS Flying Scotsman through the week and set it up and ran it over the weekend and I am very pleased with it, it looks good and the finish is to a high standard also, but most pleasing is the fact that it runs well, the sound and speed is easy to snycronise and because it has a five pole motor the speed stays constant un like some of the recent TTS models I have which are fitted with a three pole motor where the speed constantly changes making the sound continually go up and down which spoils those models,, so yes well pleased with this new model... WilliamDavid
Ah. So what's happening with my TTS Tornado is quite common, and it's just Hornby in denial.

BagEndJct
I wondered how we could determine which locos have 3-pole and which have 5-pole motors. Price? Railroad/non-Railroad?

walkingthedog
Yes I thought that as well RAF. Does a 3 or 5 pole motor make any difference with DCC?
2e0dtoeric
I can't comment on model rail motors and decoders, but in my radio-controlled electric models, the number of poles in the motor CAN affect the timing, but many speed controllers are now made to auto-select the best setting, but with a manual over-ride, if required.
