WilliamDavid
I have just received my TTS Earl of St.Germans Castle Class loco, and tried to reduce the sound level using CV178.It doesn't seem to work. Tried my King Class, and CV178 worked fine.Any suggestions?I can, obviously, set the values individually, but curiosity has got me as to why. Howbi
WD......CV178 is the one for overall sound level, however, I usually only alter CV161 which is just the main running/chuffing sound which I find the loudest.......all the other sounds are ok to me.......HB
WilliamDavid
Hi howbinman, yes I know cv178 is overall level, and it doesn't work on this loco only.
Fishmanoz
Bear with us WD. Have you been able to change any other CV, address or main sound as HB suggested, or anything else? What do you get if you try to read some/all of the CVs? Do the functions work?
WilliamDavid
Hi fishmanov,It is only cv178 that misbehaves. I can change the sound levels individually. It is not really a problem, but my curiosity has got to me.Has anyone else with a Castle TTS loco got this issue?
Howbi
Hi WD........I have a Castle TTS fitted in a B12 and, on the program track, have just changed CV178 to value 8 max volume and then back to 1 min volume so mine works ok...... 96RAF
WDThere was an anomaly in some early batch Castle TTS decoders (since fixed) in that you cannot change the value in CVs 160 and 161 (engine running and whistle sounds) individually but you can by way of the global volume CV178, unfortunately the same glitch has shifted CV178 to CV 180 slot, so writing to CV178 gives the problem you have reported. There is a workaround... If you write your new global volume value to CV180 instead of CV178 it will reflect in CVs 160 and 161 but you will notice that you cannot read these CVs back due to the glitch, however you will see the global change in the other individual sound volumes, thus confirming your change. Note also that CV160 volume will always be equal to CV161 volume value due to the glitch. ....You may also like to ask HCC about getting your Castle fixed. WilliamDavid
Thank you all for your replies.I am leaving all values as they are for the moment, as a lot of my locos have a Sugarcube speaker fitted, which, when set to 1, are at about the same volume level as my Kings and this Castle.I gather I could still set all cvs to 1 using the above workaround. That'll do me.Thanks again.
