pendeenpete
I have seen some posts on here that describe others attempts at fitting a TTS decoder in Heljan locos, usually resulting in the motor draw being too much for the TTS decoder. As I am adept at wasting money,I thought I could try with the Heljan class 33,has anyone here successfully done a similiar thing.I can try to see the motor stall speed using an ammeter with dc,would this be accurate enough? Most people have reported sound distortion,is this because the sound functions are starved of power by a high current draw from the motor? WilliamDavid
I had distorted sound with a Heljan Class 47.I am not sure if the motor current draw was a factor, as it happened at pretty low speeds.I would love a definitive answer by some expert.Worked fine with the Bachmann Class 47. WilliamDavid
The decoder that distorted in the Heljan Class 45 was replaced . I never risked trying out the replacement in it.Possibly a defective decoder.
pendeenpete
In case anyone is interested,I tested my Heljan class 33 and found that getting close to the stall speed it was drawing 0.6 of an amp,as it was already over the published TTS limit of 0.5 of an amp,i decided to stop.So no TTS for my Heljan then.
