Neil Etheridge
Hi I’m new to all this stuff and just got a dcc set and was wondering if a train has dcc sounds does that automatically mean it will be dcc train that runs of dcc track
Howbi
A DCC fitted loco means it has a digital decoder fitted inside.........if it is listed as Sound fitted then it simply means that the digital decoder has the additional circuitry containing sound files.........the track is not digital as such, it is the control system that makes it digital.........as you have a DCC set any sound fitted loco will run on your system just the same as your existing locos with the added benefit of having several sounds that you can turn on depending on which controller you are using..........HB
TrainDriverJ
Hi Neil welcome.Hornby do some low cost sound locomotives that have TTS (standing for Twin Track Sound) in their product code, for example R3392TTS, which is a class 40 diesel on sale and in stock at Hattons for only £74. All these Hornby locos will run on your DCC layout. With many individual sounds as well as continuing sound as the loco runs it can become addictive. Give it a try. By the way you can always turn it off if you need to. Hornby have also started selling individual sound decoders so you may be able to upgrade some models in the future to take sound. Hope you enjoy the hobby.
RDS
Hi NeilIf you would like to state which set it is, we would be a better position to advise exactly what it is you have got. As howbiman and John explained above, it is the Loco that would be Digital, not the track.
2e0dtoeric
But if you have any non-DCC (old analogue) loco's - do NOT put them on the DCC controlled track, the motor will be destroyed in seconds.
