gorp
sport is the deeper track that replaced classicwith different connectors arc one is analog power base with 1 car per lane digital tracks use cars with chips to change lanes and allow more than 1 car per lanedpr is a chip made to be plug and play instead of solderingwithout seeing batman would be 99.9 % sure it would require soldering if converted to digital
woodcote
Hi christian_barnes. Your Batman Chase cars will work fine on an ARC One layout. No modifications are necessary. I have used my 1970s & 80s cars with ARC One and I've really enjoyed racing those old cars with the ARC app, pit stops etc. The track with the Batman Chase set is the older Scalextric 'Classic' track system. This was replaced by the Scalextric Sport system about 20 years ago. Sport has been used in almost all Scalextric sets ever since. Sport has a deeper slot, a smoother surface and different connectors. Adapter track pieces are available to link Sport with 'Classic'. Scalextric digital (including ARC Pro) also uses the Sport track system. There are a few digital-only track pieces, including the digital lane changers and pit lanes. These digital-only pieces are not compatible with the ARC One or ARC Air powerbases, only ARC Pro. Cars do not need digital chips to run on ARC One or ARC Air. Only digital systems like ARC Pro require cars to have digital chips. Scalextric digital is great if you want to run up to six cars at a time with overtaking and a separate pit lane. ARC One and ARC Air are traditional 'analogue' systems with one car in each lane and the addition of the excellent ARC app which brings Scalextric right up-to-date. I hope that helps. gorp
good luck trying to find classic to sport adapters advise dumping the classic
woodcote
The Sport to Classic adaper tracks are in stock in the online store here and Scalextric USA: https://www.scalextric.com/uk-en/shop/track/straights-straight-borders/converter-straight-x-2.html Personally, I replaced all my Classic track with Sport. A few people prefer the Classic system, especially the track surface. Others need the converter track to include Classic-only specialist pieces like the Pacer unit, Goodwood Chicane, Le Mans start and the various chicanes - skid, short, long and curved - that aren't available in the Sport system. gorp
Woodcote,My mistake, did not know they started remaking the adapters.Good for scaly. My nearly 20 year old pacer unit came with silver or black mercedes, tower, magnet, and no track piece.Unlike a rubber band, it memorizes the track. How about answering my analog forum question ?gorp
woodcote
You're thinking of the Scalextric Sport Challenger system with the Mercedes Safety Car. The Pacer Unit (C8003A) was a replacement for a powerbase and was a 'Classic' track piece. It was different to Challenger as the driver programmed the car, rather than the car learning the track. You could use any car in your collection as a pace car. I posted a link to the instructions on this thread: https://www.scalextric.com/uk-en/forum/classic-pacer-track-c8003a-instructions/
gorp
Yes called Challenger, 2nd mistake on this topic.Challenger rate as best product ever for analog.Had converted 1 to digital about decade ago. That was a real waste of a good toy and chip.Thankfully had a 2nd challenger for backup. Thanks for showing original scaly pacer system.
Andy P.
make sure the cars have black guide blades as the ARC system can't "see" other colors.
