Can a non dcc loco have a smoke unit

Be warned, though - if you weren't already aware - that

a) they make an awful mess on you layout

and

b) if allowed to run dry, they can burn out. They have also been known to get so hot they melt the plastics of the loco bodyshell.

Also, depending in what controller you have, they might keep tripping the overload cut-out.

I have a triang loco, fitted with smoke unit, and a recently purchased Hornby one, also, with smoke. Both are DC, and perform superbly.   I am looking at the US one, with interest, having not heard of it.    I would say, mine run, with no mess, and smoke  very realistic.
