Skid Solo
Hi, I am contemplating making a track set-up in my attic... Is it possible to have a water splash?
woodcote
Hi Skid Solo - welcome to the forum! Yes, water splashes do features on some slot car rally tracks - Google 'slot car water splash' and you'll find videos, pictures and articles. I found this on Slot Forum: https://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=125649 - I'm not sure about running a digital car through water... gorp
Why not use a digital toy ?If you really believe an analog toy/track will not short out in water then have at it.Personally not going to even consider doing it.
woodcote
Personally, I'll keep water away from my Scalextric track... However, there are plenty of hard-core slot rally enthusiasts who use water splashes successfully, as well as flour (snow) and cocoa (gravel/mud). I can only think they spend most of their spare time cleaning and drying out their slot rally cars. Good luck to them! The videos do look fabulous. The water seems fine on a 12V low-ish current analogue circuit, but I imagine it would short out the electronic components on a digital chip, if the chip got wet. That's what happens to so many smartphones when they get a cup of coffee spilt on them or get dropped down the toilet - the #1 cause of iPhone deaths I believe. woodcote
Maybe the best solution is to chat with the people who know what they are talking about :-) The Slot Forum ‘Slot Rally & Raid’ section is here: https://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showforum=
