CoxynotKirsty
Could anyone with a Bertie model post a picture of the front of the bus. I am particularly interested in versions where the battery compartment is screwed into place. Cold they also let me know where it came from. I believe there are at least three versions of Bertie. I have the first two, and am interested in the third..I suspect it was sold individually rather than in a set.
new lad on block
Hi, Bertie was sold as an individual item. The catalogue number was R9096.Could you advise what the three different variations are.I am aware there are two, one made in UK the other made in China. There were small differences on the bases and the stick on labels of passengers were slightly different.UK made Bertie only came in the Great race sets. CoxynotKirsty
I have two made in the UK versions. Both from R.857 sets. One must be a very early one.Subsequent to my question I have figured out the third version was made in China.Im doing this on an iPad and the forum does not appear to lime images from this platform, probably a size thing so I will amuse myself by figuring out how to post images later. So in the meantime I will try to describe the differences. Two are visual differences and one is in the construction. My earlier version shows an unchromed radiator, square cut decals, a two piece underbody and a battery cover that needs a flat blade to access the battery. The later version has the more common chromed radiator die cut decals, one piece underbody and a battery cover with a tang, the words "pull to open" and a symbol I assume means it is battery operated. The second version also carries CE marks and a Britt Allcroft copyright script. walkingthedog
Copy the picture to iCloud and post it from there. When you select the picture icon above it says choose file. Select that then select browse. It goes to iCloud. I do, works perfectly. One of the choices is take a picture so do that on your iPad and at the bottom it says use picture. Example. Sorry haven’t got any Thomas pictures. /media/tinymce_upload/73dec81ed6c7810bc2593aa4eacad2da.JPG

NWR-Gordon-4
I am only aware of two releases / versions of Bertie, form the Great Race set and R9096 Bertie the Bus, as individual product. Not owning any Hornby Bertie's, I can not confirm any differeces if any, but Google images shows there may be some differences with the printed people. I do wish I had bought an R9096 Bertie now! 🤔 😆 GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)

Decals are square cut and, although one might argue the lack of chrome on radiator grill is play worn, there is not the slightest trace of chrome. Also, the plastic tab where the individual piece is removed from the tree is smaller and a different shape on the non chromed version

NWR-Gordon-4
Thank you for the images. Differences between the two versions of Hornby‘s Bertie the Bus’ are not as large as I thought they are. GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
