new lad on block
Hi, Kirkm 5238, Yes Thomas R9104 was produced as a special editon for Modelzome.Only 500 made, and was not widely publised at time of sale. There was no certificate, or other paperwork to show it was a limited production run. There is a similar Thomas in the Great Discovery set, In that set Thomas is 'muddy' all over.R9104 only has the puffed red face and pristine body. Both carry the copyright date on base, 2008.If you examine the thread in the Thomas section, Changing face of THomas, I upload photos of it.Unfortunately I donot know how to add links but I am sure another member will add that particular link.I seem to think the last one on Ebay sold around the £150.00.Rarely seen for sale perhaps only 1 or two times a year. NWR-Gordon-4
All of the X500 models of R9104 Thomas the Tank Engine, was made by Hornby 2008 (All models had the 2008 copyright year stampted in white on the chassis) and sold exclusively by ModelZone in 2009, via their stores and their website. Hornby did not even sell any of them, themselves. The muddy version is also rare these days, but is easier to find than the R9104 prisinte body version. R9260 Thomas & The Great Discovery Train Set does appear on eBay a lot more often than R9104 Thomas the Tnak Engine does. I did not come across a single listing for an R9104 Thomas the Tank Engine in 2018, but that may not mean none were listed; I couldn't have missed a listing or more! I check regulalry though, as you never know when they will pop up! 😉 GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
