Ratch
I'm going to try a Vietnam war based diorama in the near future and was wondering if they still used willy's jeeps then?
Tomek22
Wild Bob:I think it depends what diorama you want to build. The french in their Indochina war used jeeps, of course. Also the ARVN Troops. I do not think it was in service with the US troops at their Vietnam war. Maybe in use with some other organisations. Take a look at this: https://cj3b.info/Military/Vietnam61to75.htmlHope this helps!
Tweezers
You'll need to ask Mr Airfix to re-release 02311 Sheridan tank. Nice one I remember
jopres57
In the 1960’s The US Army was using the more modern version of the jeep, the M151 ¼-ton 4×4 utility truck. I’d be very surprised if the ARVN weren’t using original jeeps right up to 1975, and probably even the North Vietnamese; either from US sources or captured from the French. On having a check online, I was surprised to find that the US Military and the ARVN also made widespread use of a licence produced jeep, similar to WW2 versions, made by Mitsubishi in Japan. You certainly learn something every day.Lets hope the Sheridan does make a return, it was one of the better tanks from back in the day. Airfix seemed to make big improvements in their production techniques in the early seventies. A return of the two M113 variants, formally from JJB models, would also be welcome. Ian Jones1707820036
Don't forget the Australians used the Centurion too. If you can find one. Another "Vintage Classic" candidate?
Matthias Muth
The US museum at Patriots Point (Charleston SC) has a Vietnam area exhibition.I was there before, there are no Willys Jeeps.I took a lot of pictures there, also for the buildings.https://www.patriotspoint.org/explore/vietnam-exhibit/MM aka modelldoc
