Flying Scotsman tender chassis removal

Hi guys looking for some assistance.

we've got a tender driven flying Scotsman which has lost a wheel rubber ring. So haven dis-assembled the tender I'm struggling to find a way of accessing the wheels.

looks like I have to remove the motor from the chassis but can't find how it dismantles. There seems to be a recessed lug at each end. I'd have thought one locates and the other locks in but neither will move.

can any of my learned friends give me some advise please? Thanks in advance

The motor retaining lugs are a bit of a pain to unclip.

The one to work on, on my experience, is the rear lug.

A small flat blade screwdriver can be used as a pry bar (lever) to unclip the lug on the motor from the hole in the tender chassis moulding.

Then the motor block can be lifted at the rear and pulled back and out of the frame.

Picked up my new glasses today....I obviously didnt look properly as I was thinking the wheels had axles which passed through into the moulding doh!!

just looked again and walkingthedog is correct.

and I wasn't kidding about the glasses!
