Keep posting pics!

Frog 1/72 Bristol 138, the kit was pretty old, purchased off ebay and the decals were shot, so replaced with a set by Rising Decal - rather superior to the Frog decals in any case!

Is a Hornby model?

Originally Kitmaster, the moulds were sold on to Airfix who then sold them on to Dapol. You can still buy them as Dapol kits, but the parts need a lot of cleaning up prior to assembly. I have one up in the loft stash.

I like the finish on the Sea Vixen, Pmm. Well done.

Did you use the markings [transfers] from the kit? I ask because I did on mine and had some real problems, especially with the long ROYAL NAVY decal which just curled up to a useless bundle.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the comment.

Most of the decals are from the kit, except for the individual aircraft markings which are from a FROG sheet. I did have trouble with the kit images being very thin, and had to scrap one of the many red crossed markings from the fuselage top. My reckoning being that it was a replacement panel that hadn't been fully marked up yet!

Very nice Helldiver PMM. I take it that this was the old Airfix molding.

I had the opportunity to see one at an airshow about 20 years ago. It had flown in from Texas for a Rosie the Riveters reunion and documentary for the women who build Helldivers at a local plant. It was indeed a beast! What is the RN serial number on your model?

This is the old Airfix Tiggy.  I replaced it's prop with one carved from wood.  Other than a bit of cockpit detail it's basically and out-of-the-box build.

Oh dear, Patrick. Your model build looks good, but the raw material - gee whiz. I guess that shows how far Airfix have come over the time period until the latest version.
