walkingthedog
Yes you are correct, I read it wrong. In that case as it was the third cog that was at fault, the worm drive and its cog must have still been meshing. A picture would have helped. Good to know all is well. Roger1707821911
Once again, thanks to all for the help and info. The only things I noticed was rather an excessive amount of oil around the gears and the motor..(not me as I have tet to lube it)and secondly the rear of the motor didnt seem to sit flat against its end plate. On reassembly its seems to run ok, but I still have some wheel cleaning to do.Thanks again allRoger (Chalford)
Roger1707821911
Update.....It has failed again!!!The gear on the centre driving-wheel axle has again slid from its spline....Despite efforts with Loctite thread locker and Cyano instant glue it has again failed.I reckon I need a replacement axle but Service sheet 346C implies that all 6 wheelsmake up the set.......who would be a recommended supplier and....how can the coupling rods be removed from the driving wheels? Thanks Roger (Chalford)
96RAF
Can you make up a spacer tube to hold the gear in the correct alignment on the spline.
Going Spare
I would suggest using one of the specialist spares suppliers. A quick check of availability suggests the wheelsets packs X6156 and X6161 are scarce but Peters Spares are showing 1 x X6156 in stock. The R913 nut spinner is purpose made for the coupling rod screw heads. When replacing the chassis bottom, take care to ensure that the driving wheel phosphor bronze pick-ups do not get mis-shaped and bear on the rims of the wheels without getting caught in the spokes - they are fragile.
