1/72 WW2 Raf Airfield Diorama

A small diorama I have in progress of a WW2 era Raf airfield. I'm not going for historical accuracy as can be seen from the odd layout which is mainly due to needing to view it from the nearby railway layout.

Below is the very cluttered base board, with the scratch build T2 hangar, this will likely be rebuilt at a later date but will do for now once painted.

Just a bit of fun and somewhere to display my far too large collection of models.

Nice work. Is that an Airfix Control Tower kit I see? ...and is the other hangar and building scratch built?

Yes its the Airfix Control Tower kit, just needs a better paint job. The large Hangar is based off plans for a T2 hangar, just mocked up out of a carboard box, I do have it drawn up in CAD and am currently working on some 3D printed spars.

The small hangar is a Superquick cardboard kit but gives a good representation of a small prewar hangar, the small hut is scratch built out of plastic card and based off WW2 huts just needs a roof made for it.

Not done much work on this in a while but have recently been 3D printing a few bits up one being an Airfield Hut and the second a T2 Hanger.

The hut is nearly finished and just needs some paint and doors.

Once the hanger has its cladding I’ll grab some pictures!
