  1. Is it true that the legendary Airfix box artist Roy Cross has passed away? I saw an online note earlier but not sure if it is true. I hope not, but I have always had the greatest admiration for his work; it had such a great influence on me. Ed
  2. Well done, they both look very good - and they bring back so many memories of seeing the real thing.
  3. That Autogyro from an Avro 504K looks great; not something I would be brave enough to attempt! I must admit that I mostly prefer older kits but that's partly because I either enjoyed making them as a kid, or for some reason I never got around to buying one back in the day. For that reason, the Vintage Classics range has been a bit hit for me and no doubt I will buy more as they continue to be released.
  4. That's already looking smart. Is the kit a TriStar 500?
  5. What colour primer do you recommend for underneath gloss white surfaces?
  6. Two excellent colour scheme choices, saw both countless times in my youth.
  7. Well done - does the ammo come with the kit?
  8. Another kit that escaped me in my youth so I was pleased it was released as a Vintage Classic. Did the kit fit together ok for its age?
  9. Good imagination shown there. I've seen some very nice 'what ifs' before but they are usually aircraft. I wouldn't have the knowledge or skill to take on a ship!
  10. Thanks, nice to see this. Another kit from my youth which I built badly! Hope to make a better job with the Vintage Classic! Incidentally one of the Bloodhound missile fusing buildings still exists at the former RAF Woolfox Lodge.
  11. Rapid progress and looking good.
  12. I look forward to watching your progress with those two kits. I have the Airfix TriStar in the loft along with a Revell DC-10. Your build might inspire me to start work on them!
  13. I really like the Kingscliffe diorama, especially as I walked around the old airfield many years ago when there was more evidence of the now long-gone field. Nice work. I must get some of those E-pens!
  14. Thanks, John - very interesting. I would consider five of those as a definite 'hit' - two I already have but would consider building them in alternative colour schemes. I know there's no guarantee that another customer would get exactly the same line up, but I'm impressed!
  15. Hello Mervyn / John, can you tell us what models you received, or perhaps the product codes, please?
  16. I must admit I thought a 1/72 Lincoln or Manchester was pretty much a cert for 2024. Here's hoping for 2025!
  17. I was considering it too, but as the product info no longer says that buying the bundle will save you any money over what it would cost you to buy (whatever you receive) them individually, it doesn't look like such a good 'sell' as other mystery bundles have been.
  18. That looks very effective. Do you drill tiny holes to embed the thread into or just glue them straight to the top surface?
  19. I've done almost the same. The Vintage Classic series has been a real hit for me and I've bought many of the kits that I either made as a kid or missed out on. I've just bought the 1/24 Harrier, having admired it from afar for decades!
  20. Agreed. If it is possible to reverse engineer long lost moulds then there's some great opportunities out there - including those John mentioned.
  21. Hi Robert, Are you by chance thinking of the Sally B artwork on the famous Duxford-based B-17G? Ed
  22. Another kit that escaped me in my youth! I've never actually seen one of these built, so I will watch with interest.
  23. Many thanks for the update - much appreciated. Ed
