  1. Nice work! I have yet to try painting anything with that type of colour scheme. Would you say the degree of difficulty is any higher than, say, your often seen RAF European camouflage? The 'stubble' type Luftwaffe schemes have always given me a headache, but haven't tried any of the winter schemes.
  2. As I said elsewhere, I am impressed by the level of detail included in this 1/72 kit, so I look forward to seeing some pictures of the end result!
  3. Dropped...ouch! It certainly doesn't look like it suffered any damage so you obviously did a good repair job!
  4. Looks good. Is it straight out of the box? I'm tempted to do one of these soon and I'm hoping that Airfix will one day produce a 1/24 version to go with its other BoB types in 1/24.
  5. Yes, nice work. It's a kit that I have never made. Did it fit together reasonably well, or was there much patience required?
  6. I'm impressed with the level of detail in this kit. I do wonder if we will see a 1/48 version in a couple of years...
  7. Nice work...did Airfix produce the kit with Hillary's markings, or did you get them from elsewhere?
  8. I can't see any pictures...were they lost during the migration to the new site?
  9. Glad it's back; I had started to worry that it wouldn't return!

I haven't tried anything more demanding than adding an aerial wire to a 1/72 Spitfire - yet - and that was tricky enough for me! Pracise makes perfect, though!

I bet that rigging was a pain...
  12. Nice work. Is that an Airfix Control Tower kit I see? ...and is the other hangar and building scratch built?
  13. Very nice; I hope that I can reach that standard soon! Well done.
  14. New builds: 1/24 B.P. Defiant (I promise to order two, immediately!) 1/72 Avro Manchester; 1/72 Westland Whirlwind (WW2 fighter, not the helicopter). ‘Vintage Classics’ – AWACS E-3D Sentry, C-130 Hercules, B-29 Superfortress, Vickers VC10, Boeing 747, Short Skyvan, HMS Iron Duke, SR.N4 Hovercraft, Bloodhound missile. That would be 2022’s trip down memory lane sorted!
  15. Nice work...and completed in just three days? Iron Duke was the first ship kit I ever made, and I was still in junior school at the time. It's on my rapidly growing 'must do again' list, so I hope Airfix re-release it again someday!

How did you manage to paint the ties the crew are wearing?
  17. Wow, I am surprised to read that the recent B.III gave so many problems; I hope it was just a one-off and the whole production run is not affected in the same way. I am intending on making one representing Gibson's 'G' plus one to represent either of his wingmen on the big night; Martin's 'P' or Hopgood's 'M'... (probably the latter). Many thanks for the info.
  18. Very pleased to see the new Mosquito (I must admit to being a little amazed that hadn't been a Mossie of any discription available from Airfix for some quite time) and I will certainly buy it. Pleased also to see the new Tempest, as I have never built a Tempest kit before. As for the Vitage Classics, great to see the Trident and the Heracles coming back (VC10 for 2022?) but was expecting the old 747 Classic kit to be released given the mass retirements of the -400s in 2020. Perhaps the lead-in times are too great for Airfix to have responded with a release in just a matter of months after the retirement announcements were made...? I Still hope Airfix will produce a 1/72 Avro Manchester one day!
  19. Great work! As DE said, even more impressive given the 1/72 scale.
  20. Just out of interest, have you chosen an Airfix or Revell kit? I haven't built a Dambuster Lancaster since the original Revell one was released when I was at junior school(!), but I am intending to do an old and new tool Airfix one this year. The new lockdown might mean that this may happen sooner that I had anticipated!
  21. Does the Airfix Club membership normally (i.e. when there isn't a pandemic) run from January to December, or can you join at any time and it runs from 12 months from whenever you sign up?
  22. Thanks Ratch / Paul I will get myself a can of Halford's Appliance White to start with and see how I get on.
  23. Thank you John and George. ...Yes, I did snap the 109's aerial mast while trying to cut it from the sprue! I will look for the build comparisons you mention; I do enjoy them and with certainly learn from them. Thanks for the comments about the air-brush; I'll take them on board. Looking ahead, I am expecting to have to paint some significant areas of gloss white which, I recall from all those years ago, was a serious challenge with a brush! Still, I will worry about that nearer the time!
  24. Excellent work; I have yet to reach that standard, but I am working on it!
  25. That's a very nice result. I'm just getting back in to modelling and one of the things on my 'to do' list is a pair of Red Pelicans to represent the aircraft that accidentally touched wing-tip tanks during a training sortie. No serious damage was done, they simply returned to base immediately and had some explaining to do(!), but I heard the story from the instructor involved and intend to replicate it in 1/72 some day!
