Chuffers123
HAs anyone else had problems with the loco stalling alot? It seems that the power pick up is only through the driving wheels and the majority of the weight appears to be in the firebox/rear drving wheel area, the front wheels do not seem to make a good enough contact to pick power up. Could we add weights to the front end of the loco to fix this? Any idea at all please. My son in not happy as he paid for it himself!
bocaj
Are you using DC or DCC,If you are using DC that could be part of the problem as it does not allways have a current running through the track, but no pickups on the tender, that is a shame and that also won't be helping if your layout is DCIf it is DCC it will proboly just be poor pickupsAs for the weights, you should be able to add some on the locomotive.Hope this helps,Jacob
poliss
Most likely cause, the power pick-ups aren't touching the wheels properly. No need for weights no matter what anyone tells you.
walkingthedog
Move the drive wheels from side to side and make sure the pick-ups are touching the back of the wheels at all times. If not, give the offending pick-up a slight tweak (highly technical term).
poliss
Don't know if it's the same, but on a loco I had the tender connection wasn't seated properly which lifted the front of the loco up.

The son of Triangman
Bear this point in mind, if you add extra weights you are putting more strain on the loco's motor, thus reducing increasing motor wear and increasing risk of coil burn out. Adding weight has to be done carefully, too little and you might as well not bother, too much and you risk wrecking the motor either in the sohrt term or long term.
