Ratch
This Starter Set consists of two runners moulded in light grey styrene. It has a small tube of cement, two brushes, two pots of Humbrol Acrylic 27 Matt Sea Grey, and one of each of 33 Matt Black, 61 Matt Flesh, 118 Matt US Tan, and 121 Matt Pale Stone. Ratch
The mouldings are very clean with no flash and practically no seam lines. Apart from the kit supplied brushes, paints, and glue, the only additional tool I have used is a knife. All work was carried out under an illuminated magnifying glass as my eyesight isn’t what it was fifty years ago. I resisted the temptation to use tweezers when handling small parts. Seam lines were removed with the flat of the knife blade. Each figure took approximately thirty minutes to clean up and assemble. The poses are well sculpted. Each man is fully equipped, and the six poses are as follows:

Ratch
These figures will be painted strictly following the painting guide. I know there are inaccuracies, their collars should be green and the camouflage on the Zeltbahn (cape) and helmet should include green too, the Panzerfaust should be yellow, let alone the details that I’d normally pick out in different colours. But I shall limit myself to what is included in the set. I was taught to paint from the inside out, so started by laying down the flesh tones.I appreciate that I will have to go over things again, but it’s easier to follow this way. Next was 27 Matt Sea Grey for the uniform and helmet.
Ratch
I finished off the last two men in their 27 Matt Sea Grey uniforms. The black paint was put on with the thinner of the two brushes.
Ratch
This was followed by Matt US Tan on the Mauser rifle stock, MG 42 stock, trenching tool handle, stick grenade handle, water bottle, and Zeltbahn & helmet camouflage. 121 Matt Pale Stone was also used for the Zeltbahn & helmet camouflage. I then went back touching up with 27, 33, 118 and finally 61. I’m not sure why two pots of 27 are included, I have not used the one pot I opened. A pot of Humbrol Acrylic 30 Matt Dark Green for the collars and camouflage would have been better. No setting solutions or softeners were used in the application of the decals. They were merely soaked in water and placed on each figure with a brush. I am now hoping they will settle down.
Ratch
To finish I ended up having to glue the cuff band decals down with a small amount applied on a cocktail stick. Also, the Lance Corporal’s decal had gone missing, so I applied another.
Ads-1221053
Great, quite a detailed set and the decals are an interesting touch. Thanks for putting this up and going through an approach. I'm working on some 1/72 WWII Germans, in my acrylic learning phase, and will try to get some pictures up soon.
