DarkRedCape
I put a full rake of these on pre-order yesterday and have asked this very question to customer support.When/if I receive an answer, I’ll post it up here, unless someone else can answer definitively before then. ColinB
I wondered about the lighting. Interestingly I have just bought a rake of the previously released ones with lighting. Now I know Olivias gets some really bad press but they had these. Even at their eyewatering prices they look bargain basement to the new Hornby ones. ColinB
The last post of mine was referring to the LMS Coronation coaches rather than the LNER ones. Sorry for that mistake.
joe_holmes1
If I remember correctly, when these coaaches were first announce, they were to fitted with illuminated table lamps. Not sure about any overhead lighting throughout the carriage. ColinB
Obviously they are not very far forward with them as there are no decent photos, so I suspect the earliest they will be around is 4th quarter 2022 or later.
andys steam dayz
Just read on a key world magazine article that the coaches will have detailed interiors with full lit coaches should be superb if true
atom3624
I hope they do not use wipers like they have with the blue LMS Coronation ones - certain issues make odd coaches 'drag' too much. There are alternative ways, including pickups, which cause significantly less drag.Al. Simmo009
Catalogue says all are lit except for R4963/A (possibly 2 different versions) Type RK, but there is also a lit version R40054/A. Q3 is given as the release date.
flyingfox4475
My hornby catalogue does not mention lights on the LNER CORONATION coaches. I think you may have confused it with the LMS Coronation Scot set which does have lights.
ColinB
The LMS Coronation coaches are easy for Hornby looks like they are just selling the previous versions, as I said before, I have just bought a rake. The LNER ones in the catalogue don't have much of a description but there is no "lights" symbol so I assume they don't.
andys steam dayz
There was an article in key world publications saying the LNER Coronation coaches will have detailed interiors with full lighting so they must have got their information from a good source, hope this is true. DarkRedCape
Sent an email to Hornby on the 11th, they finally replied yesterday.I asked if the 2022 LMS Coronation coaches will be fitted with interior lighting, the reply was that no, they will not be.Even though the 2022 Hornby R8161 catalogue shows that they will be. AndyMac1707817969
I see they are for 2nd radius or greater I guess what you might expect but how close will they couple. Maybe we will see articulated Gresley teak coaches in the future The LMS articulated coronation coaches in maroon and gold with valances that went to America in 1939 and did not come back until 1946, I assume they never ran in the UK in blue and silver. Did the LMS ever have any articulated coaches on the Coronation Scot?
