LNER, 6 Wheel Coaches

Hornby don't really make a small passenger tank loco of the right era for the LNER, if you are concerned with true accuracy, though you could use the old J52 (not currently in production) or more recent J50 (they were more often used as shunters to move coaches into position for bigger locos to pull.

An alternative would be a small tender loco. The Hornby J15 is an excellent model, and quite often hauled passenger trains, so one in LNER livery would be a good choice.

As an alternative, Bachmann make the J72 which is a small tank loco of the correct era, and, in my opinion, looks good pulling my rake of LNER four wheel coaches.

Just to add to the list would be the old Hornby J83. However like the J52 it is an old product in model terms. Indeed I think I remember seeing a full page spread when it was first introduced in the mid to late 1970s! As a result you would need to source a newer model with a better paint job.
