Oxford TT Road vehicles

Hopefully this isn't considered too off topic.

So far the only Hornby Tt:120 items I've purchased are three Oxford Road vehicles (looking forward to the A4 trainset..).

I wonder what else we can expect to see in the near future?

Or what would we like to see. I'd start with a post war Scammell Scarab or a postwar Austin taxi or an original VW Beetle (I confess to having suddenly acquired quite a lot of German stuff).

Does anyone have any suggestions for road vehicles to populate a tt layout?

Apart from the 6 Oxford vehicles I have a couple of old Matchbox majors that just about scale out ok and also a couple of Tiny Hong Kong new routemasters which at 1:110 fit in fine.

So currently my layout is based in London!!

What time period? For more modern times (like 1970s onwards), there are a variety of sources for Continental and Asian types (if you can ignore that they're LHD)...

Herpa have some modern Continental lorries and Soviet-era East Bloc automobiles, various other producers make military equipment, mostly east bloc as well... and there is a guy in Ukraine (working under the name Rail TT) who makes North American road vehicles from a 1908 Ford to a 1950s Greyhound bus to a 1977 Trans Am in 1:120 (I can supply more info on this if needed too)...

I have the GWR Hst on order , so my time period is the present. However I will theme the layout as a preserved railway with an outdoor vehicle display, so anything goes really.

It also gives me the excuse to have any trains I want running on the layout

I will make some enquiries about the chap in Ukraine, sounds good

This is a full list of everything he's made thus far:

If you search "railtt" on ebay the currently available products will come up, he sells primarily via ebay. If there's something specific you want from the all time list either I can pass it on, or you can post on the thread linked above (it's the North American TT scale forum, but not restricted to NorAm outline, anything goes as long as it's 1:120 and written in English)

I can’t help but think Oxford Diecast have really missed a trick here. Tooling up for a model car that has no workings must be much easier and cheaper than locomotives. As 3D printing is already filling the gaps in accessories with some excellent models I can see one of the model car/van/truck specialists, re scaling and pulling the rug from under them.

So it seems that both Oxford Diecast and Metcalfe have no immediate plans to release tt items in the near future

Metcalfe I can understand given their recent expansion costs but Oxford?

They are owned by Hornby so why are they being so hesitant. The original 6 issues were great but that’s just left us all wanting more

Come on Mr K , put some gentle pressure on them to release some more vehicles
