Kim-344602
I tried to do a search but it only came up with 00 threads. Has anyone tried the Hunt TT120 close magnetic couplings? If so, what are they like. I hate to see a gap between coaches that an Olympic athlete would struggle to cross.
Peachy
Yes. They’re excellent. See here. And part 2 here;
david_watts1
Yes, I swear by them. Close for most Hornby stuff, but you can get a smaller gap on the BR Mk1's by using the extra close ones. I have found you need to trim the insert bit so they sit nicely. Paint them matt black to hide the shiny magnets. They are strong enough that a loco will stall with its wheels spinning before the magnets fail. I did have to fit an intermediate one on the rear of a German loco so it didn't buffer lock on curves. Trevor-353714
I bought them after watching Peachy's video. They are wonderful and easy to fit. I really struggled with the Hornby couplings, so I found these the perfect answer.
Markus1707823000
Are these the same as the Peho couplings that have been around for some years? If not, do you know if they are they compatible?
ntpntpntp
@markus There are a few magnetic coupling brands out there now but I don't which (if any) are directly compatible with others. I've not seen anyone else offering versions which can carry power like the Peho versions.
ateshci
@MarkusTo the best of my knowledge, Hunt's are not orientation-independent. The size is the same as Peho's, and of course they will couple to them. Magnets are magnets after all.
Markus1707823000
The price is better than the Peho ones, so I'm thinking of trying them out. Converting all my rolling stock would be too costly with Peho. Well, I guess I'll try them out and see for myself.
