Hi to you all.

An old codge returing to aircraft builds.

Old age, ropey eyesight, and a bad neck.... so I thought I`d have a go at an airfix kit.

Has to be 1/48 scale as I can`t see 1/72 even with the thickest lenze on my Optivisor......

I`ll let you all guess which one it is from these early pics so far.

I have learnt to use an airbrush in the intervening years so it will be airbrush all the way, but I`m still coming to grips with using acrylics rather than a life time with enamels.

Thanks all...

The Defiant it is...................

Lesson 1.

Tamiya acrylic thinned with Mr Color Leveling thinner is useless as a primer base.... it comes off at the slightest touch. Luckily I only experimented with it on the cockpit interior.

I`ve already used Ultimate Primer Black but you should`nt thin it at all... so you need a .5 or larger airbrush nozzle size to airbrush successfully.

I`m going to try Mr Hobby Finishing surfacer 1500 Black, thinned with the above leveling thinner , on the rest of the Defiant as I need a thinner primer for the undercarriage and gun turret parts.....
