John-378986
Hi to you all.An old codge returing to aircraft builds.Old age, ropey eyesight, and a bad neck.... so I thought I`d have a go at an airfix kit.Has to be 1/48 scale as I can`t see 1/72 even with the thickest lenze on my Optivisor...... I`ll let you all guess which one it is from these early pics so far.I have learnt to use an airbrush in the intervening years so it will be airbrush all the way, but I`m still coming to grips with using acrylics rather than a life time with enamels. John-378986
Thanks all...The Defiant it is...................Lesson 1.Tamiya acrylic thinned with Mr Color Leveling thinner is useless as a primer base.... it comes off at the slightest touch. Luckily I only experimented with it on the cockpit interior.I`ve already used Ultimate Primer Black but you should`nt thin it at all... so you need a .5 or larger airbrush nozzle size to airbrush successfully.I`m going to try Mr Hobby Finishing surfacer 1500 Black, thinned with the above leveling thinner , on the rest of the Defiant as I need a thinner primer for the undercarriage and gun turret parts..... Hangartime
Looking good, just finished this kit also using Mr Hobby paints. Very nice to build and no putty required.
