Great stuff Richard, I always like your figures.

Great bit of experimenting on the reds - what are you going to go for? I like the look of the Italian Red (on the trailing edge) over the yellow.

Thanks Stuart, I think the Italian red looks more vibrant and the yellow and white work better than the pink IMHO.

Airfix Refuelling Set

I have been working on making nice models out of the 1970 Airfix Refuelling Set. I’ve nearly completed the big AEC, with the help of some 3D printed enhancements. I will do a proper thread on the build later.

I have also been titivating up an ancient build of the Thornycroft Amazon crane from the Recovery Set. No pics just yet.

Very nice. I have the old Scammel tank transporter and would like to get some of the other older sets - such as the refueling and ... is it the rescue set? I'd like to do the recovery truck with a hurricane or some-such on the back.

RAF ground crew and pilots

I am getting some 1/76th figures painted. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, but it’s one of those jobs where I need to be in just the right mood. There’s a selection of figures here, from Modelu, the Refuelling Set, and some of those nasty polythene (or whatever) figures which I’ve had kicking around since the 1980s. For the latter I’ve spent a good while choosing the cleanest mouldings, but they’re still awful.

Not exactly on the workbench at the moment but will be getting back onto this soon

Its The Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Vb being converted to a Seafire III. Wings have been filled and re-scribed (mostly) for a C wing.
I'm using a few details sets from Buchon Models, Airscale, Sprue Bros and the Merlin from an old Hurricane. When I get back to it, I'll start a new thread for it.

Found the Revell Luftwaffe figure set, so I guess I’m on a figure painting session this weekend. I’m convinced the Revell set uses a mould tool from Faller or Preiser. The grey figures come from Revell. Even the most basic German uniform is a bit more fussy than the RAF, so the ultra-fine brushes are going to get a bit of a workout!

That's the Luftwaffe all painted. It seems their dance troupe isn’t much better than the RAF's!

I must thank @Ratch for the pointer to the book he uses on uniforms and insignia, and for giving me the impetus to attempt correct colours and even the insignia. Expect this motley bunch to appear in aircraft photo sessions over time.
