Silver Fox 17
Just been informed the BP Shell tanks have arrived at the warehouse so should not be too long before they are here.
Tim Allen
They're available, just ordered some for the layout 🙂 If only there were an era 3, 4 or 5 freight or small steam loco available this year to pull them.....

I guess Silver King will be doing both passenger and freight runs in future. Did they use the A1/A3 on freight too? I've had Blink Bonny pulling some coal wagons earlier. Thanks for that, at least I know I'm not committing some railway modelling crime by having them pull my freight wagons 🙂
Skelton Junction
If ever there was a case for weathering a loco or two, this would be that occasion. Clean locos with a rake of clean carriages, yes. Dirty wagons = dirty loco, no?
GMD
Here's hoping these tankers have in fact sorted the running issues of the original versions. That would be a really good sign for quality standards

Stephen-1260829
I read somewhere that as the steam locomotives began to give way to the diesel an SR electric locomotives the once proud mainline passenger locomotives were being used as freight haulers 😞. In BR days the Scotch Goods and Aberdeen fish trains were always allocated pacific or a V2. I don't know much about LM and SR but it certainly was not the case on the ER. One photo is LNER, the other BR pre 1957 while it still had a single chimney.
Rallymatt
Great photos Garry. Locomotives were put to use without the romantic niceties of today. People forget the top line freight services were more important than passenger services. An A4 on Scotch Goods was great business sense. 😁
My name is Bond
The images above will no doubt boost sales of the BP tank wagon so expect it to sell out fast like the container wagons.

They are providing some good opportunities for research for the layout.

Stratman 47
Thanks for the heads up. My pre-order is for both BP/Shell and Benzol so hopefully they will ship together although on checking my cc on line today, it looks like I have paid for 2 items and 2 postage when if they are in same shipment should be free postage as over £50. Great photos but let's hope Hornby don't decide that as we already have A1,A3 & A4 to haul our goods traffic that J50 and future small tank locos aren't needed! If they do arrive in one package you can claim the postage back. I, and many others, have done so in the past.
GMD
Someone got theirs early and is already selling a buffer less (!) BP/Shell tanker on the famed online auction site.

Hopefully the broken buffer is due to careless handling and not poor build quality.
Skelton Junction
Is it my imagination or do one or two of the tanks look misaligned on the chassis?
PeterM67
It looks a little suspicious to me given how beaten up the box is and the missing buffers. It's as if someone has got hold of a pre production sample somehow and is attempting to profit from it?
GMD
I put in a cheeky low offer (think in the teens not twenties) and it was accepted - so I will hopefully find out! Will report back
PeterM67
@GMD This will be the point where you wonder if the cheeky offer was a little generous 🤣
