81F
Many thanks for the info. I think I'll need to find 701 plates! I've since found 705 which is possibly a reliveried industrial on the ESR so possible livery compromises there so will ultimately paint the cylinders black when it is well and truely out of warenty. atom3624
Just received a few more locomotives - one was a 'holiday favourite', a Class 33, Heljan again.I cannot get over how realistic it looks, even if some have criticised its imperfections when 'Googling' it.Used to love seeing the push - pull trains in and around Torbay, Weymouth and Cornwall 40+ years ago./media/tinymce_upload/e2851d88a7498d7861b0d86ebe2577d8.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/ccf76377a60e94831120bc0be69876d6.jpgAl. Notanyware
Hornby Mixed Freight set pretty happy with the Select 1.5 Firmware as it works well with Atlas and Bachmann American DCC locos as well
Wolseley
A near mint Hornby Dublo City of London, which I plan to convert to 3 rail using a spare pickup assembly I have. Much cheaper than trying to get hold of a genuine 3 rail City of Liverpool.
Jimbo1707820979
A Lima Class 73 "The Bluebell Railway". A neat- looking BO-BO loco which runs smoothly, if not particularly powerfully. For DC operation only. The caboose in tow only for a bit of fun./media/tinymce_upload/841134306e7f4f2d55778f235737c420.jpg

atom3624
I believe I've finished all 'major and minor acquisitions' for this year but ended on a flurry of Southern Region BR Heljan diesels - some effort required to apply the 'details' but very impressed with the locomotives.I've 2x Westerns - I've renamed both of them to Enterprise and Champion - both are blue - one with large yellow, one small yellow panel.I've a Hymek - again blue with small yellow panel - a 33 in blue with full yellow (black lamp holders) and a late-model blue with full yellow (yellow lamp holders).Beautiful models with crisp mouldings and really smooth running - haven't noticed one criticism (occasionally the contacts are not very good on the pick-ups).This started by getting a Hornby D421 Class 50, then a 'decent rake' of Mk II coaches, then adding the Motorail option - Bachmann and Oxford ... YES, the Hornby D421 is definitely 'the daddy' with such fantastic detail and smooth, powerful operation - reckon the Heljan 52's will be pretty close. The Hymek was 500 g - quite amazing for a smaller B-B.Al. That's what we keep telling ourselves (and SWMBO) isn't it !! 😛On this HAPPY note .... I had recently purchased an earlier Heljan Class 33/media/tinymce_upload/a6ac79af8ea97e2294a32280f008502c.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/81cce0c44229ea71b40f7055aedababd.jpgNow I've just received one of the latest ones - I thought the earlier one was 'detailed enough' but this takes things even beyond Bachmann and Hornby Super Detail (apart from opening doors and working fans - which it doesn't have, I think ...)/media/tinymce_upload/acca0c862f3c36c75506664111c83d52.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/5248de380c59d27975f4b16543403fe8.jpgThat's DEFINITELY my lot ... for now!! 😳Al. atom3624
Once I get things moving I'll definitely bear in mind the 'droop', but will routinely remove the coupling from one end - they actually interfere with all of the 'detailing' as well - applied to both ends so will have to review when operational.Running is typically super-smooth. Both 33's are fantastic, but the extra detail on the new one is astounding.Access to the axles is simple, so all Heljans have been given a little grease - no obvious change, which isn't a bad thing.Al. rayarpino
The stupendous dynanmometer coach produced by a certain Canadian company on commission from a certain Sheffield railway specialist store. I believe this to be the best model of a coach I have ever seen (excepting the exceptional brass 00 coaches produced in the Orient), and that includes models by German companies. I can only hope that, now they have produced a coach initially running with the NER, other types will follow in the teak livery. There are just no R-T-R NER coaches out there (but then neither are there locomotives). The North East is a beautiful region and the NER was one of the main pre-grouping companies, so manufacturers, please give this company and its admirers a break. Very hard to get hold of and have been discontinued for about 5 years now. Just found one of each on eBay, but items are in the US. Both are silly priced, but well worth it for my collection, plus these two are brand new in the blister packs, unopened! 😀 GNR-Gordon-

atom3624
Clan Line - Hornby or real 'original' Hornby Dublo / Wrenn?REALLY wanted one of those when they first came out ... game's moved on regarding detail but they still look good now, which shows the quality of the original.Al. Derek 19B
The Hornby 2017 version, had a TT model back in the 60s . I had the choice of a green loco and coaches or a gold loco and coaches , chose the green Clan Line , been my favourite loco since then. Rebuilt version next probably derek 19b
