Petere
I have a factory chipped Black 5 with sound that I purchased last December. It has run perfectly and then yesterday it stopped dead. The sound still operates but the loco will not move. When the speed control on the controller is rotated then a musical tone is emited but the loco makes no movement at all. Does anybody have any ideas or should I just return it to Hornby for repair (which is what the shop I purchased it from have advised me to do)
poliss
December 2012? It's up to the shop to get it repaired for you, not Hornby.
Petere
Yes December 2012 and trust me the shop keeper simply does not want to know, which is a shame but he is a very small oulet who has just lost me as a customer!!
poliss
Contact Trading Standars who will quickly inform him of his legal obligations. And they wonder why small model shops are disappearing.
RDS
Maybe time to Name & Shame, or at least tell him that is what you will do.
walkingthedog
Even if he is unable to fix it, it's up to him to return to Hornby.
2e0dtoeric
As an aside - musical tone? From the loco, or from the controller? What controller is it? If it is more of a whistle, from the loco motor, something has jammed. It is still the Merchant's job to repair/replace it, as it is under guarantee.
