beejack
just received my latest purchase - a secondhand elite. it has v1.3 firmware installed. I have upgraded to 1.4f which was supplied with the rail-master software in the elite folder. Is this the latest firmware or is the v1.41 the latest? or are my suspicions correct in that there is no difference? I also was getting an update fail error when i tried to upgrade using the 1.41 upgrade off the Hornby site. when I looked in the elite folder with rail-master in the program folder - i found a bootloader. Ran the bootloader and then had no problem loading either firmware to Elite. I am using win 8.1 Which is the correct firmware to use?
Graskie
Don't know what the f in that means.
beejack
Neither do i. Have upgraged using both firmwares and the one supplied with rail-master definitely shows as being V1.4F on the elite. The other shows as V1.
Fishmanoz
Clearly 1.4f is later as 1.41 has been released for over 12 months now and RM 1.55 much less time.
96RAF
'f' is/was a designation used during beta testing of the firmware (e.g. v1.41a through h) - once sorted for production the version became just v1.41. You should upgrade your Elite to the latest version on the Elite download area to ensure you do not have any beta glitches in there. I would have thought RM would have been aware of that. Bulleidboy
So we're all agreed the latest firmware is V1.41 - as shown on the downloads file on this site.

Yes Elite v1.41 as downloadable from here is the correct version: https://www.hornby.com/downloads/hornby-digital-firmware-and-drivers/ any other version is out of date and may contain glitches that could affect RM and may be the cause of some current problems affecting RM. Trust me I am an engineer, albeit aerospace not software or trains.

Augustus Caesar
OK WTD... we won't... lol :-) Does being a computer engineer count?
Gregd99
I confirm RAF96's comments above. A bit of a config mgt issue that the beta version has made it onto a distribution disk. Please do use the official download version to avoid confusion and surprises. btw - I am an engineer too... in software
beejack
Thanks for all the responses. I Started out with the v1.4f upgrade and then put the v1.41 on the Elite. Guess I made the right decision.
