High praise for Hornby/Arnold GE U25C

Spookshow, the author of the N Gauge Encyclopedia, has reviewed the new Arnold N scale GE U25C.

Here are a few of the things he has to say about it.

"This gorgeous looking and fine running model represents the return of the Arnold brand to North American N scale."

"These models sport some of the finest paint and detailing ever rendered on an N scale diesel..." "Performance on these models is absolutely outstanding in every way." "...mine can pull 40+ assorted 40' freight cars on level track like they're not even there."

He has some minor gripes. He wonders why the loco has traction tyres when it's such a heavy model. He loves the fineness of the handrails, but thinks they are flimsily applied. He's not keen on the shell removal process as the coupling falls apart when you do it.

He ends by saying "these are flat out gorgeous looking models that perform every bit as good as they look."

He gives the model an A grade and as he has reviewed just about every US outline N Gauge model ever made this is high praise indeed.

Link to the full review. Should put a smile on the faces at Hornby Towers. :-)

Owing to the popularity and tremendous positive response from the U25C Arnold has announced for 2015 that they will also produce a U28C and EMD SW1 in N scale (1:160) for the American modeler.

The Rivarossi U25C has received every higher praise online in reviews etc. and is at the moment one of the best HO scale American models in terms of detail etc. Though Rivarossi hasn't announced anything else as of yet apart from re-liveries and a Heisler 2-truck steam loco.

Was looking forward to some Arnold British models but nothing was announced.

Cheers!AJA

Spookshow has only recently started a European database. From what I can see, he only gives full reviews of the models he has bought for use on his own model railway, and he says that European models are very expensive to buy in the USA. He welcomes pictures or information of European models. :-)
