Don Grunbaum
Airfix used to produce kits for a wide range of OO scale railway accessories. They would be very welcome if they were re-introduced to the market, I'm sure.
peter_vialls
I think all the moulds for these were sold to Dapol and the models are available from them.
Frederick Kullas
As Peter says, Dapol own the moulds for these and they have them in the shops, so even a reboxing by Airfix wouldn't be a goer.
stephen_hubble
Fab idea my friend,00 gauge models need to be more diverse.Aifrfix cold re invent moulds/new models even if Dapol has the old moulds.A lucrative market too I'd have thought.
Gerry1707820887
Yes. Their Trackside Series had loads of model railway kits at reasonable prices.A pity they sold the moulds to Dapol, I would have loved to see them re-introduced or even new models designed. Phil Peterson
The Traveling Crane would be good to go with the 72nd boats. MPC put it in their Commandoes Strike at Dawn dio set.

AgProv
Are Dapol still in business? I passed through Llangollen a week or two ago and what was the Dapol factory site had been levelled for redevelopment - there's nothing there now.

HO3.5
Dapol use a soft plastic(to extend the life of the old molds) so the kits are not of the same quality as the old Airfix ones.I have always wondered why Airfix have not standardised their scale on such items as figures, buildings, aircraft(1:72), military vehicles and the old railway items to 1:76 or 1:87. This would lead a greater use and purchase of their products in similar but not related fields of modelling.Starting to produce kits of modern rolling stock and locomotives(such as the Class 66) in 1:87 scale, that are seen and used in Europe and the U.K., would be an obvious choice. When it comes to purchasing rolling stock kits, railway modellers tend to purchase more than one because in the real world they are trying to replicate, wagons of the same type normally travel in groups, i.e. merry go round coal trains. Ratch
I have always wondered why Airfix have not standardised their scale. They did! They standardised to 1/76 scale. 1/87 is a continental scale not so popular with British railway modellers.
mike_arnold
Dapol still emails me so they must be in business. Their passengers are very good and they have the range of railway accessories which were once Airfix including the Rocket loco!
