D.H.C. Beaver

This is a beautiful kit of a great plane. I would love to get one of these, particularly as a few years ago I was lucky enough to take a flight in the seaplane version over Oahu via the Japanese route into Pearl Harbour. It wasn't a cheap jaunt but I'm so glad I did it, what a memory.

Please Airfix, how about a re-issue with the original options. I would be the first in the queue.

Clipper.

Hi Guys n Gals,

in my humble opinion this is the greatest aircraft ever built. My stash is full of old Airfix 1/72 scale Beaver kits but if it was re-launched, I'd be straight on the phone to place a bulk order! It would be wonderful if the decals could also be updated to give two options, the first being the aircraft currently operated by the Historic Flight's beautiful example, and the second should be a really bright, colourful and cheerful civilian example on floats (there are loads to pick). Niceties would be for a detailed radial engine, an option to have or not to have windows above the pilots. It would be like Christmas Morning for me if this fin kit was brought back to life and updated.

I've recently been asked to repaint the Gate Guard Beaver at the Museum of Army Flying so it would be nice to have this kit to make a diorama

You don't happen to have all the paintshop drawings for the Beaver do you? What scheme are you going to repaint it as?

Thanks in advance!

The plans are very much in the early stage and the final colour scheme will be at the call of the curator. Its currently (a very tatty) Black and Green but I'm going to press for the dark green / dark earth although the final scheme is likely to be decided by the paint available to the curator.  I'll ask about the drawings, all I do know is that there is a complete set of APs and a bundle of other documents in the Museum's archive. The flying Beaver at Middle Wallop has a wonderful mix of paint schemes, with a number of doors and panels off a different aircarft displaying a mismatch of the camouflage pattern.
