  1. I use Lenz Silver 21 pin which has the best motor control but is a bit pricy at circa £30 http://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/lenz/silver-21pin DCC Concepts have a new Zen 218 Black which incorporates 'Brown- Out' protection ( an inbuilt form of stay-alive) and I will be trying one of these soon.http://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/dccconcepts/zen-black-zn218 These retail for under £25.
  2. Personally I dont think this is a pick up issue but may be to do with the quartering of the wheels or the drive train from the motor to the axles. If this is a brand new purchase I would return to the retailer for exchange or to Hornby for repair under the guarantee.
  3. Sorry to go off topic a bit but it beats me why Hornby don't have continuous stock of class 37 and 47 TTS decoders. I suspect the class 50s will run out soon too.
  4. @Traindad There are many other suppliers of DCC sound chips for class 47 Legomanbiffo, Howes would be a good starting point.
  5. I would suggest returning the chip to the supplier or you could contact Hornby Customer Service who can be very useful with CVs etc oin TTS decoders.
  6. Hi Dooters. I would suggest that having a llok on online auvtion websites would give you an idea of teh potenmtila value of such items. Unfortunaetly ther is a myth that model railway items have a percievd value higher thn atheir actual worth. Only very rare and exceptional condition models seem to improve in value these days. Julian
  7. Disable operation on DC by altering the relevent CV.
  8. Has anyone fitted and tested the new class 50 and Valenta TTS decoders yet? I would be very interested to see some reviews on here and som evideos on YouTube.
  9. The website is not very clear foir instance there is no actual description. /media/tinymce_upload/c73b353c0c27863cf9ad6ee09628c6fb.JPG
  10. Although it doesnt say so on the Hornby website one assumes that by the higher price there are actually two decoders in the HST Valenta pack?
  11. @WALTER Woods Have a look at thisYouTube channel from 'Cravensdmufan' on how to adjust the CVs to improve running. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC90_QEPr-tXjG-frGb_2uUQ/videos
  12. Based on the above should we also remove the small round orange capcitors wired across the motors in locomotives?
  13. As Nick says above the cheaper HST power cars in the RailRoad range will be from the Lima moulds even though the photographs on teh hornby website look like the latest Hornby moulds. Nearly £300 for two power cars seems very expensive until you look at Continental models from the likes of Marklin etc. The RailRoad models are good value for money.
  14. A nice shiny new Post Office Stowage van from you know who 😆/media/tinymce_upload/90ac33a7e334b5d744e9255446a63c88.JPG
  15. There is a train operator in Hungary called Floyd and their logo is pink. LOL
  16. Peter, I swapped from a Hornby Elite with 2 Select walkabouts to the NCE power cab system and have never looked back. The NCE is so much more versalite and user friendly. I am sure there must be an NCE agent in Oz who will provide a full support service. I use Coastal DCC in the UK and they have bene brilliant. Once you have the Power Cab you can very simply add additional controllers.
  17. I have recently bought 4 more china clay wagons. The row of wheels in front of the wagons have been painted and wait weathering before fitting. The wagons have had the original hook and bar coupings and mounts removed. I will be fitting a simplified Alex Jackson type coupling for more realistic appearance. Uncoupling is not a problem as I will be running them in fixed rakes./media/tinymce_upload/cddea4784e05f9e4d9314bcac00810bb.JPG
  18. 6 more Bachmann china clay wagons from eBay. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  21. Hi Everyone, At this link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCouAe0Znb0X_eiWmS2Oga5A you will find some videos of my OO loft layout Liskwithiel Road. It is based on china clay operations around Par and takes it's name from Liskeard, Lostwithiel and Bodmon Road from the 70s to the 90s The films are a bit random but give you a flavour of what I am trying to achieve. It has taken me over 5 years to get this far as work and other pressure severely restrict my time. I hope you enjoy my films and I welcome any comments. If you like what you see you can subscribe to my YouTube channel. You can follow progress on my FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Liskwithiel-Road/766345680042627?ref=hl

  23. All this speculation is neither healthy or good fun. Why don't we just wait and see what happens.
