  1. I too am glad I pre-ordered a set of Coronation Coaches now that prices have risen so sharply. I have said before on this forum that I wish Hornby would consider a scheme similar to Accurascale whereby on pre-orders you can pre-pay monthly over 6-7 months. This benefits the buyer by easing the costs instead of a large payment and benefits the manufacturer as they have a guaranteed sale plus the money upfront. Accurascale allow cancellation and full refund. I have 3 locos on order at Accurascale using this payment scheme.
  2. It is good to see Hornby following other manufacturers in providing a host of extras in the Deltic such as engine bay and instrument display lighting. The one thing missing which would help by not having to remove the loco body and possibly disturbing electrical contacts and cabin etc is a crew member. Surely the cost of fitting a crew cannot be that expensive. Hornby have fitted crew to the new 9F. I managed to order a sound Deltic when it was first released.
  3. I agree about Bachmann's short notice release dates preventing me saving for a loco especially in these difficult times. I have taken advantage of Accurascales 'lay away' scheme wherby I pay around £35 per month for a pre-order loco. So far I have paid for a class 89, almost paid for class 50 and will shortly start paying for class 31. There is a rewards scheme and vouchers available. Hornby should provide similar schemes which benefits the buyer and the company.
  4. Customer services have advised me that the Prince of Wales P2 with steam generator is currently scheduled to be shipped sometime in winter 2024. No answer why it is not on website any more.
  5. The Prince of Wales P2 steam generator loco does not appear on the shop website at the moment. Has it been withdrawn? It still shows in my pre-order account.
  6. I too am shocked at the steep rise in prices. Being retired I find it difficult finding a large lump sum to pay for a loco when it is released. I have recently decided to buy some Accurascale loco's using their 'lay away' scheme whereby I pay a relatively small fixed amount for a set number of months until the loco is paid. It becomes a fully paid up pre-order. This is not a credit scheme nor does it attract interest. Also every birthday, anniversary, christmas etc I receive R of S vouchers. Unfortunately as Hornby are no longer sold by R of S, my choice is restricted. Hornby should consider both these schemes as a way of increasing sales.
  7. I too have just cancelled all my pre-orders. The government imposed limit on my company and state pension will simply be insufficient to cover the projected significant energy price increase coupled with continued fuel costs, food price increase and the inevitable council tax rise. I have to live in the real world and accept my life long hobby will have to now go on hold. I am very disappointed. I will be asking all my family/friends to gift me vouchers from retailers for birthday and Christmas presents so at least I can have something new.
  8. I sent my Hush Hush back to Hornby last Friday with a delivery date of Monday. The loco was very noisy. poor running/stalling and parts broken off. I received back my loco today (Thursday) with delivery note saying motor replaced and tested. Initial look shows all the broken parts back on the loco. I'm not sure it is the same loco body. Loco arrived in a large box with plenty of packing. I will run it tomorrow. Well done to Hornby for such a quick return.
  9. I was in my local model shop yesterday discussing the issues with my Hush Hush and the dealer stated that of his 5 allocated Hush Hush locomotives he had received, 4 were faulty. If other dealers have similar ratios of faulty locomotives then Hornby have a major problem. I have just watched the review by Sam's Trains on YouTube and the problems he had are identical to the issues with the Hush Hush I have now returned to Hornby.
  10. My "Hush Hush" also had broken bits and it sounds awful even after some considerable running time. It's going back.
  11. Hi Tim, Any news of HR4320 as I have full set of these coaches on order? Brgds,

    Terrible Terrier

I too had a poor running new Hornby DCC fitted Terrier which was jerky and would keep stopping. After trying all the necessary track and wheel cleaning and CV adjustments, sent it back to retailer. The replacement Terrier runs without fault straight from the box. A lovely loco.
  13. Tim, Many thanks. Pre-order made several months ago. Brgds
  14. Hi Tim, Any update please on HR4319-22 Orient Express coaches. Many Thanks.
  15. Go to the Hornby International section of the forum as someone describes how to remove the body of the latest version of 'Big Boy'.
