  1. Looks good Mike. Hope you dug the graves to scale.
  2. I am assuming you have a Bachmann turntable or have a preference for that manufacturer. I personally never gave any consideration to converting a dc turntable to dcc, and went for the Heljan 89121 dcc , and found it to be a very good buy. Smooth, very accurate and a well made unit. At approx' £200 , it obviously is quite a financial outlay, but is in my opinion worth it. I see the company from Sheffield are doing it at £195. Ignore the rubbish you may see (or have read) regarding setting it up. Believe me, if I did it , so could your Granny . Please keep us informed which way you go, and there are plenty of people on form , who would be willing to help or advise.
  3. Sorry Bill, not loco settings. System settings (cog).
  4. That looks like it will do a good job for me. Still busy with track laying and alterations, but when I am finished I will have a with it. I have altered my plan layout and it makes Hornby TT look a bit better, but I think it can be improved on. Will let you know outcome. Thanks again.
  5. weather disgusting, so I am back up into loft to continue laying route tracks to my Heljan Dcc turntable. I have come to a conclusion that I really do not like the Hornby Rm turntable Icon. Mainly because the route legs on the icon bear no relationship to my required track positions. Is it possible to import a new turntable icon . ( Rm Pro ). Or am I stuck with what Rm supplies. If importing is possible, how and where from. I have searched on forums, but no success.
  6. as per my post in dcc section I bought a Heljan dcc turntable. installed , programmed, quite easy. That surprised me, after reading posts from op's on different forums . It is quite a nice thing to watch, smooth, and very accurate. but it is very suspectible to ballast , however small, so I am going to have to be super extra careful with my scenic work and housework.
  7. I didn't realise that it was as much as 15%. and that of course , would leave platforms on "00" a good bit high against the HO stock. As to Kadee couplings mentioned earlier, I have fitted them to a lot of my stock ( still a fair bit to do yet, and I reckon they are great. ( but quite pricey ).
  8. hi, so , how do you think the HO locos' and running stock look against buildings , water towers, etc.
  9. Knocked out a reply, but forum police have stopped it for profanity. I would like to know what it is.
  10. Yes eric, and the wagons , some of them I havn't got a scooby how things will go when I start to them?? I 'm thinking it will be a case of onwards, onwards, into the valley...... but, as I already said , that won't be until Oct'. I'll have to keep my ears alert to see if anyone I know is going to USA. who can get me kadees as better price. But, there is no doubt in my opinion the kadees are the way to go, both aesthetically and in operation.
  11. Hi John, I started to change over to kadees about 2 months back, easy to do when stock is new and has the pockets to allow quick coupling swap and height check. Old stock of various manufacturers has slowed things down somewhat and of course, for me , budget also to consider. Have been using a converted wagons at either end of fixed rakes to let me try, and practice uncoupling and shunting. Results are mixed. Wagons moving too freely to allow positive opening of couplings, but one of the experienced op's on forum posted a tip for fitting a pad to bottom of chassis to create some friction to axle, thus elliminating sloppy rake, and it helped a lot. However layout season has come to an end, and brown trout season for me starts in the next couple of weeks, depending on fly hatches etc. gear to be prepped, and that's after the garden work. 😀 Please keeped us informed as to your progress and your thoughts, as I still follow threads in forum throughout year. Hugh.
  12. Hi Wed, looking good. That wouldn't be Adolf Hitler eyeing up locomotive 9044 is it? There was always a theory that the ashes outside the bunker was a con. Now , saying that I think it may be an idea to have Elvis , Einstein, JFK and others on my layout.
  13. Edited out for crazy predictive text. Apologies for the Wed. WTD. in the following post.
  14. whilst running a loco today , a loco derailed on a point . After ,sorting that out , points started acting daft. Click on point 7 and point 4 activated and so on. I, as per usual, jumped the wrong way , thinking comm ports mis- matched. After mucking about for 10 mins', It then dawned on me ! Clssic Mode . Reset to Standard , ok. I know this catches op's out guite often . Would it be feasable to have a "controller mode" indicator on Rm screen , perhaps below the Network acive, controller connected, opaque loco detection in top R/ h corner . What do you think?
  15. I'm thinking about it PJ, at least I think I was thinking about it. I think ?? where was I? oh yes : I have got it down as 21/10/17. I think !!
  16. I am left to assume that my running Rm on windows XP would leave me unable to go on to getting Loco I.D. What possible benefit could that bring to anyone running Windows 10 , I purchased my Elite in the first few months of it's release , likewise Rm & Pro. Everything dcc on my control system is Hornby , and contributors come along and suggest it is desirable to cut old " gitter " and his XP off at the knees . It's not desirable for me ! I have a system / combination that works, and works well , hands off. Desirable : Mince !!!
  17. If I had a hundred guesses, I would in all probability be miles away. I'm going to go with 21/10/17.
  18. I,m wondering if there is a major/drastic announcement forthcoming from Hornby. With stock releases dates not being met and existing production items not being available, it looks like there may be issues regarding the running of the company. I hope not as I hold Hornby in high regard, especially their customer care and repair/service departments.
