  1. Update:- Sent the Mainline loco back to the man who said it was a good runner 'cos although it 'ran' it had a worn drive gear and screeched a lot, Yhe Hornby is a Wrenn........the first one I have owned, runs nicely.
  2. I knew what you meant, Jacob! Pics are 'subject to approval' might be another way of putting it, eh? 😉
  3. I tend to copy and paste any images into the post. Seems ok for me.
  4. Not sure if I posted this previously but it cost £12. Hornby. Just waiting to sort out the chimney. It is a really, really smooth and quiet runner! http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/02gAAOSwC~dZw34J/s-l1600.jpg
  5. This was £16 so not really a bargain but it looks nice! Took a risk with this as it's an old Mainline model and I hear parts are hard to come by. The man said it was a good runner...... http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/~EwAAOSwsMpZkFWl/s-l1600.jpg This next one was about £14 and I was a little embarrassed to win this on ebay as SWMBO was on the warpath because of my spending etc. Oh well it's toooo late now! Another good runner, so we'll see. Awaiting the delivery of both locos. LNER 581 http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/kHgAAOSwvmBZx5Ri/s-l1600.jpg
  6. Jacob, any chance we could see some pictures of your items please? I'd like to see them. 😀
  7. Jacob, nowadays if I win a bid I always contact the seller to ensure the loco is BOXED. Sometimes they even offer to send it signed for which, as you say, is even better.
  8. Jimbo, I bought a very cheap Hymek from fleabay that I was looking forward to renovating but the seller had only wrapped it with black plastic as packaging! The postman duly posted it through the letterbox and........ one broken bodyshell. Sent it back and got a full refund. Disappointed though and still don't have a Hymek.
  9. Jacob, I swapped the con rods around and replaced the bottom half of the body, (the old pannier tanks came in 2 parts and I had a spare bottom), replaced a coupling rod, full service and resoldered the loose wire. It runs really well(as the seller said it did!). I have donated the whole chassis/ motor to my old Jinty (my first choo choo), as this was an unreliable runner. The Jinty chassis/motor will be used for the Pannier Tank as I managed to solve it's minor problem. Will repaint it soon and use some spare GWR transfers I found in my 'box'. It's all working out very well!
  10. I had noticed the con rods were upside down, so I'll need to sort that! WTDoggy, yes it turned out to be even hairier than it looked in the pic! Jacob/Gordon, I'll be repainting it in GWR green and adding new GWR transfers to it. The seller said it was a good runner but judging by the state of the commutator I'm doubtful. Also a pickup wire needs resoldering so unless it became detached during transit it wouldn't have been running at all! Oh well, it was only £9 and it will occupy me for a little while.
  11. Bought another one of these 'cos it was cheap (£9) and a good runner! http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/jQ4AAOSwU8JZsYpj/s-l1600.jpg
  12. Caiptean, can Thomas's 'face' be pulled off the engine in order to convert?
  13. Some Coca-Cola for cleaning some old track. Seems to work very well on ns track but not on steel although it was noticebly easier to polish off the grey stuff after immersion so not a dead loss, WTD!
  14. WTD, (Brian), nice to see your layout. I took the liberty of saving your pics to my pc as there is a plethora of useful detail I can refer to in the future. I was feeling a little flaccid about adding detail to my own layout and was bereft of any workable ideas but I can't wait to get going now! I noticed the little detail you added to the chimneys on the Metcalf loco shed and I like the sensible way you added ballast without overwhelming the track! Many thanks.
  15. WTD, yes do post more pics please. I prefer industrial settings to country ones so yours fits the bill, You may recall seeing photos of my layout a few pages back? Well, since then I have replaced all the track and added more play opportunities ie goods shed, double engine shed and a couple more sidings. I will upload more pics for perusal.
  16. Jacob, have you posted any pics of your layout?
  17. WTD, crikey thats some hardcore layout. Very good. 😆
  18. SoT, I imagine you have quite a few Dock Shunters already so what will you do with this latest one? Do you sell online?
  19. Ebay. Never been run. £12 http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Mc0AAOSwf~9ZaK~9/s-l1600.jpg
  20. A squealing HST 125 awaiting a gear shaft lube.
