North Kent Lines (or thereabouts - I've lived along these lines most of my life so they are what I'm familiar with) Era 7 onwards (in my lifetime) Rules 1 and 2 need not apply if I get bored of waiting and something I like the look of comes out.

I originally ordered an Eddy, because I love the look, but then decided to base my layout in South East London / Kent. Don't think any 50's made it round to this side of Waterloo, so bit out of place. But in the end I decided to charge my order to a Leviathan as it passes a cursory inspection, is also handsome and I think my 08's are getting lonely.

Plus, it's a great excuse to buy some continental coaches and go down that rabbit hole 😀 For anyone that has access to a 3D printer I've made a simple gauge with those NEM102 dimensions - there's also a 43mm track centre spacer. Ok, so I was going with 41mm from track height, but measuring my Hornby track it is 4mm high so that tallies if you have no underlay.

Hello, Re-entering the hobby for the first time since childhood and about to start putting together some of my track in a more permanent way. I'm wondering about whether there is any official information on some of the dimensions for the TT:120 scale. So, I've seen page 30 of the recent paper catalogue which has the various curve radii and track centres, but I'm also looking for things like height clearance above the track and clearance widths, platform heights and overhang of long rolling stock on curves etc. Couldn't see anything in a forum/internet search, Is there a document of the TT standard, or a measuring gauge tool or something like that that I'm missing? Currently just using my 08 and some mk3 coaches, and measurements of a 3rd party TT:120 scale engine shed that I bought. But worried that when my 66 and container wagons show up, I'll be clipping things. Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks everyone. So it's a Hammant and Morgan Executive controller. I've just tested it out with a multimeter and I get up to 20 volts DC. So I'm thinking I shouldn't really have it turned up that high. About halfway seems to be a nice steady 12 Volts, so I'll just try it on there with only my 08 and see how that is. For the sake of a few months, I think I'll be patient and just run two completely separate tracks, until I can upgrade my 08. So I can have my Class 50 with a DCC control on a different isolated loop. Thanks Again.

Hi there, Coming back into railway modelling after a long, long break and just wanted to check my understanding. I have purchased the 'DCC Ready' Class 08 shunter and a ring of track with a siding to get me started. I'm hoping to nab one of our old Hornby Controllers from back in the 80's off my brother later today - he stole the train set when we left home🙂- which will be like 12 volt DC supply I think. So, first question is; am I right that this will power my new shunter and get me going? I have got the TT8001 power track and some suitable wire to handle the track connection. What I really have my eyes on though, are the new Class 50's which are hopefully imminent. And I'm also thinking I would like to upgrade pretty quickly to the HM7000 system before I get too deep in. But for my Class 08, the 6 pin Bluetooth controller (R7321) seems to be out of stock until the Autumn. So, if I buy a Class 50 with a sound decoder fitted, can I remove the controller and just run it analogue until the 6pin controllers return for my class 08? Anyone have any idea if it's normal for trains with decoders fitted to come with a blanking plate, or will I need to buy one, or can I just leave it empty? When the 6pin decoders are available again, and to make the jump to full HM7000, am I right in thinking I need a new transformer- like R7337 and the digital power track (TT8029) to get the right power in? (I have the app on my phone already!) Am I right in thinking this is because the Digital stuff needs an 15V AC supply? Or is there some other way to go straight to HM7000 now that I've missed? I'm most interested in anything that's run on the London - Dartford lines in the last 50 years. Class 376 Electrostars Class 456/466 Networkers Class 421 and 423 slam doors In their various liveries of Southeastern, Connex, Network Southeast and BR blue. It's all good. If there were to be HS1, Elizabeth line, or Eurostars then I'm sure I could squeeze these in on a line as well, I mean that's what TT:120 is for. 🙂
