I have just restored a Hornby 14xx that I bought off eBay a few months ago. the traction tyres had perished luckily I had some in my spares box these were the last pair I had. I can't see why Hornby are not making them any more as they have released the R3692 14xx in the railroad range again this year only came out a few months ago. will have to hope the tyres on my two models last a long time if they're not going to be available spare parts. maybe Peters spares well have some replacements made like they have for some older lima models.
Hi Paul what a great layout your building .are you sure you haven’t done this before the baseboards are very professional Can I ask what software you used To plan the track layout? Hope to see the next stage of your layout build oliver
I can recommend these from eBay for the old Hornby hst .https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-HST-LED-Lighting-Upgrade-Kit-New-Version-Updated-Design/251999154032?hash=item3aac51ef70:m:m4iPi2K1GdSKSm20JI80oFw
Too many of them available in the shops... The 90 has a 67 chip in it... not with flashing lights and sirens there not !!! . you should do a how to article RAF96
I just got the Class 47 TTS too excellent sound on this loco . you get six different horn sounds on the 47 that more than some of the high-end DCC sound locos . the only thing I would criticise is that the loco is a bit lightweight not a problem for me only having a small layout someone with a bigger layout would need to add a bit extra weight. excellent value for money the TTS sound now got to start saving for the flying Scotsman.
here's my two layouts don't have the room for a big layout so I built two small one's also have a hornby live steam layout with N gauge on the upper level but thats in the garage and it gets to cold in there so I don't really use it anymore /media/tinymce_upload/IMG_1044.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/IMG_1048.JPG
If I was you Keith I would give Hornby customer care a phone call or send them an e-mail tomorrow and see what they have to say . I can't see why this would've happened if it was a short circuit it would have probably blown the chip completely although the sound chips are usually double sided Circuit boards so maybe one side is sound and the other is for the control of the loco not sure . But I would definitely see what Hornby have to say about this.
