  1. email Hornby and ask them. I think it says in the instructions about the guarantee and the Hornby repair service for the TTS sounds decoders. I can't say for sure but I think that the warranty is longer than 12 months
  2. If they are brand new I would send them back for a replacement.they shouldn't be like you describe if there used maybe you could look for some replacement bogies I've never seen any Hornby coaches with warped bogies
  3. All of last year's class 66 had nameplates included in the box. I have the flying dustman and the BR large logo one So I would think that R3902 will have nameplates to I was very impressed with the quality of the nameplates too for a budget model
  4. Class of 61 if you're not sure if your set is working correctly and are unhappy with it contact Hornby customer care for advice.
  5. edit it was the hornby engine shed i had seen it .they say one pack the second week and the other one before the end of the month.so they should be out of china by now and on there way to the uk
  6. I had an email from BRM last week showing the Rocket .it shows the decoder fitting in the water barrel and said that they and on the way to the Uk and are expected in the second week of February
  7. its hard to say if there exactly the same .form the images I have seen I would say the new ones look different and a lot finer and better finished . not to long till the sets come out now .i can't wait for my one to arrive
  8. These are great for upgrading the lights on the old 125 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F251999154032
  9. I would change the wheels on the wagon to some Hornby metal ones see if that helps. I don't know why Hornby still use plastic wheels maybe for cost or safety?
  10. It's not a royal Scot it's a patriot class R357 is the Hornby model number it's a uk made model . China made parts may not fit this model.sorry I'm not sure of the correct part number you need
  11. Mine arrived today too. A little bit noisy when running forwards will run it in and then see how it goes. Good idea about the 08 TTS sound chip
  12. I've also found my loco form this set very noisy and so is the club loco I received today there both the same design Going to look at putting metal wheels for the container wagon and maybe add a little weight with some self-adhesive tyre weights
  13. It's from the motor to one pickup. its blue with a red black black gold bands on. Had a look online and it's a 20µH inductor The wire has broken way from the body of the inductor . I will be fitting a decoder at some point so will leave it off They say everyday a school day 😆
  14. Can anyone tell me what the resistor is that Hornby use on the 040 motor to pick up wire .is the current version
  15. Where is the noise coming from? I have four of the latest class 66s and have found that the pickups on the none powered end can drag a little so need a very small amount of adjustment so that they don't press so hard on the backs of the wheels As for motor noise, It does vary ever so slightly between models some need running in a bit and a small amount of oil In the right places for them to quieten down a little Another thing to try is with the DCC chip replaced with the blanking plug does it run better on DC it maybe your chip needs a CV adjusting .also try the 9 volt pp3 battery test If the noise is still excessive contact hornby and see what they say
  16. Is that a factory prototype?
  17. Have you tried contacting peters spares for advice? They do lots of tyres even for out of production models
  18. They were made for Hornby staff as a gift when they left or retired .when they made models at Margate. Usually, a flying Scotsman as they were in production more than other models.
  19. already had the body off makes no difference. That was my first thought about the motor so I removed it and replaced it checking the fit and mesh with the gears. Yes the linkage is all ok no catching . The locomotive ran well last time I used it .Very annoying as I had the LMS Coronation coach pack for Christmas. Maybe I will remove the gears and check them and replace if necessary. just hope it's not the gear on the drive wheel as I don't think you can get them. Definitely no track pins or anything else in the mechanism
  20. I'm having a problem with my Coronation class Duchess of Norfolk R2531 I'd had it running no problems for a while but once I slowed the speed down a lot slower every so often it will lock up completely and not move just makes a buzzing noise from the motor I've investigated the issue and it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the motor all the wheels or valve gear . I have lightly oiled the loco as i hadn't run it for a few years the problem seems to be with the gears connecting the motor to the Central driving wheel of the locomotive as When the locomotive has locked up the central wheel and Gear has no movement in it at all . has anybody else experience this problem and how did they fix it ? I seem to remember the merchant navy locomotives having a similar issue a few years ago with split gears
  21. I had already checked that Fishmanoz . There was nothing wrong with the socket and that can't Short-circuit on anything as on this latest model it's all screwed to a plastic housing at the top of the seating unit That was my first thought about the blanking plug too or maybe a bit of bad soldering on the socket but it turned out to be the blanking plug itself . I now have the unit running with no problems
  22. Thanks for the instructions howbiman . the only thing that looks different is the circuit board.its now a lot smaller and fits in a plastic housing
  23. That's what I thought yelrow no quality control couldn't have been tested at the factory I will email Hornby and see if they can send me the operating and maintenance instructions
  24. Had a look on Google about removing the body you put a business card or credit card down the sides Decided to risk removing the body as I would have had to anyway if it was working to fit a decoder. When I removed the body I couldn't see anything wrong with it . everything looked ok I decided to check the DCC blanking plug as that was the only thing I could think of I fitted a different blanking plug and it worked so must have been a faulty blanking plug Now I have the unit working I will give it a good test over the next few days before fitting a decoder. Hopefully I will have no more problems
  25. just got this set for Christmas and the power car is not running at all.maybe has a short circuit I was going to check the DCC plug but I have no instructions in the box so not sure how to remove the body don't want to break anything can anyone tell me how to remove the body or post the instructions for me to take a look at if not I will have to sent it back for a replacement but wanted to check the simple things first
