Did I mention a 1/24 Defiant...and a 1/72 Manchester?
HMS Iron Duke Vintage Classics, too...

I didn't post any pictures!

Ed,
You seem to have posted multiple copies. Please remember that pictures have to be cleared by the moderators and much as we would like to we can't be on the site all the time. It takes a bit of time for your pictures to appear. grinning
Also remember to press "post reply" once and to wait a bit. Again, it takes time for the post to load. When you press it multiple times we end up with multiple copies of the same post!
Having said that ....keep posting and make sure you let us see pics of your build.
PS: Yes, I think the metal foil on the model looks good in real life! wink

That's as interesting technique. Did you achieve the standard of finish you were hoping for?
Must try it myself!

This is my attempt. I'm not sure whether I used kitchen foil or chocolate foil for the metal cowling. To fix the foil I painted both the cowling and the reverse side of the foil with varnish. When that was tacky I placed it on the cowling and rubbed it down with a cotton earbud.
An interesting technique - how successful would you say it was...did you achieve the look / level of finish you were hoping for? I must try it myself!

Hi Ed. I haven't bought one myself but I understand that it contains the Warhawk. Me-109 E-4 and the BAE systems Hawk 100 series. If you look at the rrp of the bundle on Airfix's home page it shows £35-97 which would tie in with that kit selection. It appears to me that they are putting cheaper kits into the bundles. I know the 1/35 tank bundle decreased by one kit (and aver £30 in value) but retained the £75 price tag. That said, they're still pretty good value if you don't mind a "lucky dip".
Thanks, Ken. Yes, I also thought that cheaper kits were now being put in the bundles but, as you say, you can still save money by buying a bundle - just not as much as before. However, the main reason I asked was because I wondered if there was a chance that the current aircraft bundle comprised models that I didn't have...but it looks as if I will have to wait at least a little longer for that to happen.
Thanks again. Ed

Has anyone received the Aviation Bundle within the last few days?
I'm just curious to know what is being sent out at the moment.
Thanks,
Ed

The kits currently available in the aircraft bundle are the E.E Lightning "gift set" (only one decal option), the Spitfire Vc (two options) and the Mustang (Tusegee Airmen scheme). If you check the bundle on the website it tells you, under "product info" when the contents were last updated. This selection was from 20th January 2022.
Thanks for the update - very useful.

Did it fit well?

No Ed, it's not valid, its showing you where to stick your first token.
Ok, thank you.

I'm a first time member. The first square on the passport has the image of a flying hour on it. Does that mean that the first flying hour is already given to you and you just need to fill the rest in as appropriate to the model you want, or is the image there just to show you where to put the first one?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting...I had never heard of a Demon with a turret before.
Nice work though.

Very nice; I do like Hurricanes!
Are / were you building several kits at the same time, or was this finished before the Victor was started?

Having wondered about whether or not I should join the Airfix Club I received membership as a surprise Christmas present. I didn't already have the Kate model so was happy to receive that and wanted a copy of the Airfix model list book so I was pleased to receive that too.
It also gives me the opportunity to trade in the flying hours I have collected.
On the other hand, I though the magazine was a bit underwhelming.
Overall (considering I didn't pay for it!) I'm pleased with it, but the Hawks don't float my boat, so will I renew it at the end of the year...?
Decisions, decisions...

Looks like the F15 starter has gone👍
Yes, the much issued F-15 and Defiant appear to have gone. Many thanks for the update.

Has anyone bought the aviation Mystery Box in the last few days?
I know they are subject to change bit I'd be interested to know what has been issued recently.
Ed
My order (Monday 24th) is currently processing so will let you know when it arrives.
Many thanks,
Ed

Thanks, Ratch.
I knew the prototype kit was different from the later 1970s production model but I wasn't sure if that 70s model was being reissued as the Concorde Gift Set.
I can see from the 2nd link that it is the 70s kit being reissued.

Does anyone know if the Concorde gift set being advertised is the same moulding as Airfix's previous 1/144 production model? I see the decals are different, but is it the same kit?
Thanks,
Ed

1/72 Avro Lincoln, Avro Manchester, H.P. Hampden, RAF V-Force ground crew figures
1/24 Defiant
1/600 HMS Queen Elizabeth / Prince of Wales

Nice, what did you use to draw the wavy lines?

If you fancy trying it out start with something easy .... say an escort carrier like HMS Audacity. It's honestly not that difficult. It's also much easier as a waterline as you don't have the issue with complex underwater curves. You might also find you can to use parts from some Airfix kits ....like the Swordfish from the Ark Royal. A 1:600 Audacity will sit nicely next to the Ark Royal.
Very interesting - thank you. Maybe I will find the courage to give it a go someday!

Although they look fine in polished silver, I do like to see these machines in what I think of 'Munich' schemes.
