  1. It's just a thought I'm dropping here. Watching uncut racing, or well produced racing/hot laps has always entertained me. I'm not expecting AAA celebs here, but the thought would be to keep an all time record ala Top Gear.
  2. I do the track maintenance regularly Chiefy. I don't have a fixed circuit, so the first thing I do after building a ciruict is locate the bad connections, then take out the 2 offending peices and tighten up their rails. Unfortunately, if you rebuild often like me, the connections get loose over time.
  3. Whole host of reasons why different cars would need different power. I'd worry about that after getting a good clean running track. Digital racing needs good power throughout, as signals are sent down the power to the chips in the cars. 1) Track maintenance: Turn suspect track peices over, and gently tighten the rail to the plastic by bending the metal tabs with a spoon handle or something blunt that won't harm you or the track if you slip. 2) Jumper cables: I'd say essential for longer ciruits. I just bought some from Jadlam racing. Simply a decent length of wire with female ends that clip directly to power tap tabs on the underside of standard straights. Wire one end near the power base, and the other about half way around (can break it into more sections with multiple taps). Care to wire each end of a single wire to the same rail. 3) Track cleaning: Theres some gubbins, Inox I think, that Gorp or others can tell you about. I just use a bit of wet n dry with wd40.
  4. I just retried the Scalextric App on a whim on the Tablet. It's working again ... at least in analogue mode. (I dunno if this is a happy accident, but Thankyou!) I find the Scalextric app to be slicker and easier than Magic Arc, and having the tablet on the stand at the side of the circuit has a definate 'wow' factor with kids and adults alike. For serious control though, Magic has endevoured to give us access to as many of the variables as possible, and the best thing for me is the afore said windows version so I can run the race from my laptop. I just uploaded a new video showing Magic Arc, and Arc Pro in analogue mode (on my Arc Pro youtude thread in the general secion of this forum)
  5. The weather turned, and the Ivies B had to be dismantled ... Fortunately, I was allowed to set up indoors. The Ivies C: 6ft x 6ft surface, 2 Lane changers and a Pit lane Here it is in analogue mode with some cars from Yesteryear
  6. I have not tried the scalextric app for a while now, as the recent upgrade meant it no longer works on my tablet. (Not scalextric's problem, it's an old tablet and I was lucky it worked as long as it did) I run Magic Arc from my Laptop (Magic has a version for windows alongside Android and iOS, come on Scalextric, give me a windows version) The most recent version of Magic has ironed out a few bugs and I've been happily racing against 2 pace cars. They do not pit, nor do they change lanes, but when you have to do both, it becomes a real challenge. The difficulty can be upped by increasing tire wear / fuel use on a per car basis, or in general for all cars. You can have all 6 cars as pace cars on Magic, and this is cool for demo vids, but for fun racing, As Gorp says any more than 2 pace cars (one per lane) and you just end up with a pace car train after a few laps, which may as well just be 1 car.
  7. Really not sure why this feature is not in the App, nor in Magic Arc. I have made the suggestion. Is there some technical difficulty Andy?
  8. Is there a link to this '6 pack' somewhere?I'm just returning to the hobby after some years in a Galaxy Far far away, but have been browsing slotforum and here.
  9. Hi Gorp,I guess there's only so many configurations. I just made this one up, but no doubt it's similar to a common track. It's part of the joy for me, building a new layout each time. Trying to hit that sweet spot of challenging corners and well placed changeovers. My 'table' is constructed from trestles and boards, so even the table can be arranged in different configs. Here it's 16ft x 4ft.May do some more speed runs today.
  10. Hi folks, Been tinkering in the gorgeous weather and have been streaming some racing on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLn1ewi7W8GHEOiXW-uVS_39dN_gtG0BRW
  11. Current version (maybe beta as I signed up for that) prevents the app working on my Samsung Galaxy (SM-T560 tablet). The app connects to the base ok, and will start a race, but no power to the cars and no throttle trace on screen. It's Android 4.4.4 and has the Bluetooth 4.0, A2DP (Guess this means it has no BLE, despite the app working previously) It works on my Phone, SM-G900F which is Android 6.0.1 and Bluetooth 4.0, A2DP, EDR, LE, aptX (I've mentioned elsewhere, release a Windows version for Laptops please!)
  12. I would like to join (renew if you still have my details from yesteryear), but on clicking the add to basket button I cycle through a page that tells me nothing in my basket and to continue shopping.
