I had a problem with a faulty Arc Air controller, asked Scalextric if it could be repaired and they sent me a new replacement at no cost, excellent service!

Of course! It’s just come to me, I should be swopping my tyres between my cars ( I have a mix of open wheel and bodied cars, most bought in last 3 years) to check compatibility and I may find the “equivalent” tyre on another car.

Why does Scalexrric only show tyres that relate to specific cars in the Shop? surely tyres could fit many different cars so including their size in the description would help finding a tyre that would fit, if there were none listed for that specific car?

One of my ARC AIR controllers developed a fault where the connection with the Powerbase drops off completely or intermittently, as shown by the LED light on the controller either going out or flashing. I replaced the batteries with new and no change. ive bought a replacement which works fine. is there anything I can do to fix the broken one?

I got the *motorbike* motor off the well known online forest site and it was a perfect fit, apart from I moved the pinion gear slightly to ensure a good mesh. car fixed and runs well.

Thanks Andy, certainly the motor is long and thin rather than square which is what most others look like. I do shop at Jadlam and Pendles and you are correct, also helpful.

I too have the World GT Arc Air set and my Ford GT GTE car has stopped working. I’ve traced the problem to the motor. but when looking for a replacement there is nothing on the Scalextric Shop that looks anything like it. See photos. in fact the closest I’ve found is on Amazon and it’s described as a Scalextric motor bike motor! is the case I would just have to try it an see if it works. after checking the sizes are very similar of course. Otherwise use the car as a donor car for future repairs?

How recent is the version of the ARC AIR App?

I was aware of the colour issue, perhaps the guide was bouncing over the counter? the lap counter follows a bend and cars tend to hit the barrier at that point

Andy, That’s an interesting comment about track lengths of more than 10 meters needing to tighten the rail clips to the track. would have been useful to have known this before I set my layout up. thanks for what you do.

I have an ARC AIR set and one of my cars, a F1 Williams stopped activating the lap counter. I eventually discovered it was because the screw which holds the guide onto the chassis was loose. An easy fix , presumably worked loose with use.

I bought ARC AIR because I don’t plan to go fully digital. I can’t see that I’ll want six cars on the track at once or lane changing. The AIR set comes with several “digital” features like pace car on one track, variable power output and variable throttle maps. the App itself is pretty good when racing or doing lap times with refuelling and tyre stop options. more than enough to keep me amused.

Track was designed using the old fashioned way, graph paper and scale drawing. no software! the tables are wallpaper pasting tables. Paired to form the”L”. I only have one access point so cars de-slotting in the far corner requires a stick to move them.

It’s in “My Account”. it seems to contain the items I’ve perhaps added to the Brasket at some point? But not then bought.

In fact the Pace Car runs only in lane 2 Green. Which is in fact better for the pace car as it’s the lane on the outside of a radius 1 hairpin.

I’m really pleased how it’s turned out, a year on. Everyone seems impressed.

A year on and I replaced the dust sheet with paper I found in boxes from deliveries. This tends to be 2 feet wide and sometimes 10 feet long. I cut the shape of the track at the corners so it wouldn’t interfere with my trackside modelling. I also reduced the amount of cardboard around the sides where the layout is open to the floor, where the drivers stand and ensured I had fencing all along the track , in fact all the way around so that if (I mean when) a car de-slots it remains on the track.

Thanks Andy. so how do “brakes” work? On my Arc Air controller there is a brake button which I believed merely cut the power to the car?

I believe there is only one App for both PRO and AIR? and it’s just that AIR doesn’t have all the facilities available? None of the unboxing and test videos on YouTube show the sane images for the App that are currently in use.

I’ve found some 1/30 scale figures on a well known online shopping website named after a Forrest in Brazil. recently 50 mixed stances for around £9. However, they are not brilliantly modelled and are not on a base. Also poorly painted. In my last batch of 100 I didn’t get any seated which was disappointing so I’m dismembering some to make them seated for a planned grandstand purchase. I repaint them and put them on a base. my diorama is not meant to be highly detailed so good enough for me.

I’ve read somewhere that you can place tape on one of the pick up rails just before a bend, especially before a radius 1 curve and that will stop power to the car and slow it down just for that curve. Not tried it yet but am worried that some cars will be too low at the front?
